Crack. Snap. Rip. Graaargh! Thud. Crash. Repeat. Amidst the typical sounds of fighting, red eyes slowly opened. They gazed at the star-studded sky above him, before slowly taking in the surrounding visuals. He was in a park. Turning his head towards the sounds, the raven caught sight of his favourite monster fighting with the hell dog with a vicious grin on his face. Izaya wanted to laugh, but couldn't muster enough energy to burst out in the laughter the blonde hated, so he settled for a smirk.
"Ah, Shizu-chan~," he whispered, voice carried away by the wind into the night, " So unpredictable as always. This is why I hate hate hate hate hate you so much, you monster~" Red eyes flashed in the dim park as another wave of pain washed over the slim man, and he slipped back into the darkness again.
Some distance in front of the bench, the blonde cocked his head slightly, having seemingly heard something. He waited, but no more was heard, and he turned his attention back to the beast in front of him.
" Well this was fun Shiba-kun, but I'll have to wrap this up now. " Shizuo chucked, a deep throaty laugh emerging, " Now..."
Slam, growl, crash, whine, bang...
Silence.
Then a laugh.
Shizuo was a monster after all.
He didn't kill the beast, he was, to some degree, human, so he merely settled for tying the infernal creature up with streetsigns taken from the park- a feat only he could have pulled off. Pulling out his mobile phone, he quickly typed a message to Celty, Ikebukuro's other resident monster.
"Ikebukuro park now. You know, the one where I fought off those people possessed by Saika. There's something for Shinra, tell him to take it as payment. Uh it's kinda big so... Be prepared. Oh and tell him I'm bringing the flea over now, he's in bad shape. " Satisfied with the contents of the message, the ex-bartender snapped his phone shut and slipped it back into his pocket.
Shizuo turned sharply and headed towards the flea laid on the bench. His head was in a different angle, Shizuo noted, so he must have awoken earlier. The information broker really did look awful. Now that nothing was after them, he finally noticed Izaya's lack of a shirt, the pants that were filled with holes, and the insane amount of blood that soaked his clothes. Suppressing a groan, the blonde looked down at his own clothes. Bloodied. Trust the flea to have ruined yet another set of his clothes from Kasuka even when they weren't fighting. Staring at the peaceful unconcious raven, Shizuo had to admit that Izaya had a pleasant face, not that he would tell him of course, or maybe even handsome. The raven-haired man's features were always contorted into that malicious smirk whenever they met, maybe that was why he only noticed this now.
Brushing away his thoughts, Ikebukuro's strongest man picked up the unconscious figure with such care one would have thought a monster wasn't capable of. Making sure Izaya would be relatively sturdy in his arms, no heads lolling around as he ran up buildings-that would be disastrous, Shizuo started making his way to the underground doctor's apartment. Running through alleys, up vertical walls, jumping over roofs, it certainly didn't take him long to reach Shinra's home although it would have taken a normal person half an hour. Instead, they both arrived at Shinra's lift lobby in merely 5 minutes.
The door to Shinra's apartment was left open, Celty would have told passed on the message, and Shizuo walked into the apartment and headed straight for the doctor's room, and set Izaya down on the bed reserved for Shinra's patients.
"Ah Shizuo, nice of you to visit! " the bespectacled man exclaimed from behind his desk, "To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"Cut the crap Shinra, you know why I'm here. Celty would have told you already." The blonde all but growled.
"Ah~ your words hurt me Shizuo! Of course my beloved Celty would have told me, my dear Celty would tell me everything! Ahh, I just wish she would let me touch her... Everywhere!" Lost in his own delusions, the doctor let out a dreamy sigh as he clasped his hands together.
Shizuo groaned, he hated when Shinra behaved like this, it was always so hard to get him back to reality. But then again, they had been friends for so long and he had learnt some tricks to get Shinra to do what he wanted. Not that he was anything like that scheming bastard, no, he was nothing like that asshole.
"... I'll just let Celty know that you were dreaming of touching her inappropriately instead of helping me then."
That did the trick.
The underground doctor paled noticeably, and he coughed nervously "D-Don't do that okay Shizuo, I'm sorry, I got carried away thinking about my beloved Celty. Now, what were you here for again?"
Grunting in acknowledgement, Shizuo pointed to the figure on the bed, and Shinra jumped up from his seat with a start as he recognised the silhouette of his friend. Worry found its way to his face as he scurried towards the limp bloody figure.
"Oh dear, oh dear. What had he done now that idiot! This is by far the worst he has been in now, didn't I tell him to rest for a month at least? It's been barely a week!" The doctor fretted. The blonde, now standing in the doorway as he was about to leave, turned around, curious. The last time he had fought with Izaya was at least two, no, three weeks ago, and he wondered who else would have been strong enough to injure the agile man.
"What happened?" He found himself asking, ' It's not as though I care, ' he thought nonchalantly.
"This idiot got ambushed by two gangs the other day, came here butthurt and dripping with a year's worth of blood. Said something about them accusing him of sending Ikebukuro's strongest to attack them when they were making a deal about drugs or something. Honestly, all he did was lie in my bed sick for a week, he wasn't even near his computer!" Rambling on and on for a while, it wasn't until Shinra realised he wasn't talking to Celty did he then shut up, "... Aaaand I wasn't supposed to let you know that so don't tell him anything." He sunk back into silence, mildly annoyed at his loose mouth, as he worked on giving Izaya a thorough check, writing down his observations on his clipboard before fixing him up again.
Said strongest man frowned. He did remember the day he attacked the two gangs, but they were the ones who started it. He had been on his way to visit his brother Kasuka and was taking a shortcut through a junkyard when he chanced upon the gangs. Having planned on avoiding trouble, he did turn away from that path and was about to head down another road but one of the thugs recognised him and threw an empty beer bottle at his head, causing him to bleed. He couldn't remember what happened next because he had flown into a rage, but the next thing he knew, all of them were on the ground, and his fists were dripping with blood that did not belong to him. It must have been that time, he mused, as he left the doctor to his work and went to the kitchen to grab a carton of milk before settling on the couch. He was asleep before he knew it, and the last sound he heard was the roar of the kurobiker's vehicle (black biker) as it wheeled into the garage.
