The world was already in ruins, but I couldn't tell that apart in the completely empty airport back in America. The silence was eerie, a stark contrast to the bustling chaos airports once held. It was in this desolate place that I first encountered the horrifying reality of our new world order—zombies.
I had been wondering, trying to make sense of the empty terminals and abandoned planes, when a grotesque figure lunged at me from the shadows. Just as I braced for the end, a stranger intervened. Sae Joon Hyun saved me, his timely arrival nothing short of a miracle. Despite our initial differences and the tension between us, we formed an uneasy alliance. Survival has a way of forging bonds, and soon, trust followed. Together, we resolved to leave the airport and find a way back to our homeland, South Korea.
During our escape, we encountered Yuri and Jaeyeon. They were just as desperate and determined as we were. The four of us banded together, navigating through a maze of dangers and obstacles. After what felt like an eternity, we finally reached our destination—South Korea. But the sight that greeted us was far from the home we remembered. Our country was overrun with the undead, a once-thriving nation now a wasteland of horror.
Upon arriving, our small group splintered, each of us unaware of the reality in our own way. Yet, the overwhelming adversity soon reunited us. The zombie numbers were staggering, a relentless tide that threatened to swallow us whole. Despite the odds, we stayed together and fought back, driven by sheer will and the faint hope of survival.
In our struggle, we managed to save In-Ha, a renowned scientist. Her expertise became invaluable as she helped us understand the nature of the zombies. Her presence was a beacon of hope, guiding us towards potential solutions. As our journey continued, our team grew. We encountered a group of students from Seoul Central School and a surviving couple in a convenience store. Yon, one of the students, confirmed our worst fears with his knowledge about the cause of the outbreak.
We lived each day under the shadow of death, but the presence of a pregnant In-Ha added a layer of urgency and vulnerability to our mission. When she gave birth, the stakes were raised even higher. Protecting a newborn in a world teeming with danger was a daunting task, but it also gave us a renewed sense of purpose.
Our group continued to expand. We met Jeha and with my ideals resonating as they were, he quickly joined us. Hamin and his friend Su-yeong soon followed, and our numbers swelled to over twenty. Each new member brought skills and hope, yet also added to the challenges of survival.
Amidst this chaos, the most bewildering twist came when Hailey, one of our group, revealed she had traveled back in time to save her friend Yohan from dying. This revelation was staggering, adding a layer of complexity to an already incomprehensible situation. The idea of time travel seemed ludicrous, yet in a world plagued by zombies, what truly made sense anymore?
Living in this apocalyptic reality, where uncertainty was the only constant, became our norm. The world had always been unpredictable, but the presence of zombies turned every day into a fight for survival. As I reflect on our journey, the alliances we formed, the lives we saved, and the battles we fought, one truth remains clear: our world may be in ruins, but our spirit to survive and protect each other burns brighter than ever.
