Inside the weathered barn, wooden beams creaked overhead as the wedding party began to assemble for the rehearsal. The dim glow from a string of fairy lights illuminated the expectant faces of those gathered, casting shadows across the rough-hewn floor. Helena, with her brow furrowed in concern, reluctantly stepped up to the front of the barn, her eyes flicking back and forth between the chandelier above and the rest of the group.

"Alright, everyone," Tess called, clapping her hands to get their attention. "Let's get this rehearsal started!"

From her position at the water's edge, Macey's heart raced as she reeled in the line, each grisly discovery making her hands shake uncontrollably. She pulled up one dismembered body part after another, her stomach churning with every gruesome revelation.

-----

"Marina, Amelia, you'll stand here to light the unity candle," Tess instructed, positioning then at the make shift alter in the barn. Marina and Amelia approached the front together, both unaware of the head spade rigged in the chandelier above them.

-----

As the last tug on the line revealed Reverend Maximillian's severed head, Macey felt bile rise in her throat. She scrambled to call Helena, desperate to warn her friend about the impending danger.

"Helena!" Macey shouted into the phone, her voice cracking with terror. "You need to get out of there! There's—"

"Sorry, I can't talk right now," Helena whispered, silencing her phone, her focus solely on the rehearsal at hand.

"Helena, dear," Tess said, "would you mind turning off the barn lights for a moment? We need to test the lighting for tomorrow."

"Of course," Helena replied, her fingers fumbling for the switch as knots tightened in her stomach. With a flick, the room plunged into darkness, releasing the head spade from its perch. The metal sliced through the air like a guillotine, its deadly arc aimed squarely at Marina. She glanced up just in time to see the gleaming blade hurtling towards her, but it was already too late.

"Grandma, look out!" Amelia screamed, her voice raw with panic as she helplessly watched the gruesome scene unfold before her eyes.

In the fraction of a second that seemed frozen in time, the head spade embedded itself into Marina's skull with a sickening crunch. The wedding party let out horrified gasps and screams, their faces a tableau of shock and disbelief.

"NO!" Helena cried out, her heart shattering into a thousand pieces as the reality of the situation settled over her like a suffocating weight. Her mind raced with unanswerable questions, the nightmare far from over.
