Ivery sat on her bed and glanced over at the half drunken soda she had opened a few hours ago. She felt guilty about not having drunken it. The can reflected a glint and she sighed as she raised up and grabbed the can. She instantly regretted taking a sip, she hurried and swallow it then stood up and dragged her feet to the kitchen to pour it out. She felt tired and groggy as she watched the orange liquid be swallowed up by the drain. Better the drain then her, she thought to herself as she shrugged her shoulders and tossed the can in the trash. Her phone dinged as she rested against the counter and she hurried to her room to check it in hopes that Gaz had texted her. He hadn't texted her since last night and she was beginning to become worried. He hadn't mentioned anything about going on a mission, so unless he was in a hurry and just hadn't had the chance to tell her, She thought he was just upset over something and was just being petty, that he would give in and text her back and tell her to go fuck herself or something along those lines. The notification was just a reminder from some shopping app. She put her phone back down in a huff and crossed her arms in a huff.

Days that she wasn't teaching were boring, mostly spent playing video games or facetimes with her family when Gaz was busy. Snapping her out of her thoughts, the phone began to ring. the phone stopped ringing as she picked it up without even looking at who it was, assuming it was Gaz.

"Where the hel-"

Her words were cut short by the voice of Laswell. Her voice echoed in Ivery's ears. It was a tone she had only heard a few times, times when something was seriously wrong.

"I need you to come to the meeting room next to my office, immediately. Be quick, be quiet, i'll explain everything when you get here."

All she heard after that was the line going silent and a atone beep. The meeting room next to her office was reserved for private matters only, stuff the government doesn't want to get out. Her heart thumped in her chest as she quickly shoved her shoes on and sprinted to the door. The building was only about a two minute walk. It became a thirty second walk at the pace she was going.

Her lips curled into a counterfeit smile in the direction of the people in the lobby as she made her way to the elevator. they seemed like everything was fine. Whatever was going on was top secret. She enter the elevator and hunched over in a worried way. The elevator beeped all the way up until it had hit the top floor.

A million scenarios paced through her mind as she walked toward the room at the end of the hall. The possibility of a nuclear war pounded its way into her thoughts. It would explain the urgency in Laswell's voice. All the blinds were shut in the meeting room, she could see from the distance that it look inhabited. As she approached the door, she reached up to knock but before her knuckle could make contact, the door was creaked open just enough for her to be able to walk in. "Quickly." Laswell Instructed her as she waved her in.

"This is her." She introduced Ivery.

Ivery looked around the room until her head jerked into the direction of a familiar face.

"Gaz?" She looked at him confused. a couple of the other men in the room looked familiar also. Probably from seeing them on facetime or in pictures Gaz had sent.

"Laswell, what's going on?" Her face scrunched up as she turned her head toward the Commander.

"This is Task Force 141, I believe you and Kyle are familiar?" Ivery shook her head as she glanced over at him once again. "Sit. We'll explain the situation to you." A man Spoke up and she looked over to him. He seemed to be an older man with a heavy beard and was wearing a bucket hat. She pulled out a chair beside Gaz and another man that seemed familiar, he had a beard, but a different one than the older man. "Captain John Price, great to finally meet you." Before Ivery could get a word out, a heavy English voice boomed through the room. "We've got no time for all the introductions, time to get down to business." The voice came from a man with a skull mask. She was never the type to scare easily, but this man put shiver down her spine. Her and Gaz exchanged a look that they haven't given each other since they worked alongside. Laswell began talking and everyone listened and kept a straight face as they looked to her.

"There's been an outbreak. We've received reports of cannibalism and violent acts in Canyon, Texas. Half the town is infected, you can guess what happened to the other half. Authorities are trying to contain it the best they can at this moment. If the public is informed of this, The world will go into a panic. It's our job to not let that happen." She paused for a moment as she gives the room a strict look. Some of the men nod their head in response. "This is a kill all mission. No one get out of there alive if they're infected." Her head turns to Ivery. "Ivery will be assisting on this mission. I can assure you she will be a big help. Price and Ghost, no time to make a plan here, do it on the way there. Now get to it." And with that being said, everyone got up from there seats and exchanged small knowing glanced without a word being said. "Gaz, I don't have any of my weapons or armor." She whispered to him as she walked by his side. And before he could answer her, the man with the skull mask interjected, who could only be recognized as ghost. "No time for that. Plus, no Gear or personal items brought into this mission will be allowed back here, to avoid spread of the infection." He says without even turning his head to look at her. The man seemed rude, definitely not a people person. Everyone was seemed to be quiet as we exited the building, besides a couple guys sharing short words quiet enough that they could barely be heard. Price and Ghost, mumbled a private conversation to each other, presumably formulating a plan.

As they exit the building, Gaz nudges Ivery. "Hey."

"I don't think we're supposed to be talking." Ivery narrowed her eyes at him and nodded her head towards the Captain.

"Just wanting to make sure your not mad at me. I'm sorry I didn't text you, my phone dead, didn't have time to charge it." He looked over at her and barely pulled his phone from his pocket showing her it was dead.

"It's alright just shut the hell up before you get us into trouble." She scolded him half jokingly.

Ghost spoke up as they all arrived at the back of the plane. The latch let down and everyone began loading in, besides Ghost who waited for everyone. Ivery struggled to get onto the plane and a few of the men smiled at her lightheartedly making fun of her, Earning them an eye roll and embarrassed smile in return. she struggled to pull her feet off the ground until she felt hands around her waist, her body jolt back as she was placed on the plane. Ghost had helped her surprisingly. He climbed up effortlessly after her and she muttered a quiet thank you that was ignored as she tried to find an empty seat.
