Jungkook
I just had a busy yet fulfilling weekend with my friends at the marathon event today. I never thought participating as a volunteer for the event would be something I would be fond of. I made the decision rashly while trying to ignore Chaeyoung's message a few days ago. Oh, speaking of Chaeyoung, she has not messaged me for almost a day already. Does she know I was going to be busy today?
While scrolling through her previous messages, I am interrupted by the doorbell that is ringing twice at the front door. I look at the time on my phone before I think of who would have come to my place at 10 in the night like this. I rarely invite people to my place and I am sure that no one knows exactly the unit where I live except for my mother and Chaeyoung.
"It couldn't be mom...", my face turns to the front door as the doorbell rings again. "It couldn't be..."
Chaeyoung is in New York.
I carefully walk to the door before I peep through the hole to see who is out there. I blink as I see no one outside. Am I hallucinating?
I think I am.
DING DONG!
I almost flinch as I hear the doorbell again. I peep through the hole and this time, I see a shadow rushing to go aside to hide. I shake my head, I do not have time to play around with anyone tonight.
DING DONG!
That's it. He should stop.
"Can you pl-"
"Surpriseeee!!", I got pushed back as my body is collided by someone who wraps her arms around me tightly.
I try to keep my balance and see who it is as she pulls back while smiling widely at me.
"Ch- Chaeyoung?", I speak, stuttering.
"Hi, boo.", she waves before hugging me again.
I am still shocked.
"Jungkook, are you okay?", Chaeyoung asks me as she waves her hand in front of my face.
"Chaeyoung, it's you..", I do not know how to feel at that moment.
Half of me is shocked and happy to see her but another half of me is still angry about what I saw weeks ago in New York.
"Yes, it's me, Jungkook. Surprise!", she says as she takes my hand and leads me to my living room.
"What are you doing here, Chae?", my mouth says as we reach the sofa.
"Well...I miss you.", she replies as she turns around and puts her arms around my neck.
I try to smile, "We could video call."
"No, that's not enough.", she tells me. "I want to see you in the flesh, my boo.", she pinches my cheeks as she says it.
I look at her as she sits down while pushing her luggage beside the sofa.
"Jungkook? Come here, sit beside me.", she calls as she pats the empty space beside her.
"I'm sorry, Chae, but I'm tired-"
"I just got here.", she cuts me off. "Won't you sit and spend some time with me?", she asks as I just look at her, still standing at the same place.
"I'm sorry but not now. I'm tired-"
"Is there something wrong?", now her tone is a bit raised. "I can feel you're being distant with me, Jungkook. I thought it was just me overthinking but now that I am here seeing you..."
"I'm tired because I had a long day, Chaeyoung. I joined a marathon today, did I not tell you about it?"
She looks sad but I am really not in the mood to do this now.
