"Mum!! Pleaseeeee tell us a story!" She yells from her bedroom, her twin brother beside her. She knew which story they wanted. The story they always begged for. They were only eleven. Lillian knew this.

Hurricane, Utah. 1983

Lillian Valentine knew a lot of things. She knew that to be popular you had to be pretty, presentable and perfect. She knew that being nice to everyone earns you a good reputation. But in her opinion, the most important thing anybody could and should know is that Michael Afton is a massive dick.

Lorelai Miller, more commonly known as Rory, knew everybody in this small town. She knew who you were, where you're from, your sibling's, your grandparent's, everybody. The whole town loves her, she might as well be the female casanova of the town people love her that much.

Millie Brookes has the common sense of a goldfish. Although when it came to gossip... You know that rumour you heard? Yeah she spread that. Jeremy Miller joined the basketball team? That's such old news!! You heard that Michael Afton is in a fight with Terrence Valentine? Wait... What?! That's new news for her!

—————

"Terrence!! Stop it!!" Lillian yells as she rushes towards the crowds of people. It was very rare her brother's fights got this much attention, so she knew this was a big one. She wasn't getting very far by running through the crowd and her voice was drowned out by them yelling like animals. Rory and Millie trailed closely behind her like bodyguards, making sure the school's perfect girl doesn't get hurt. Rory manages to convince people to make space pretty quickly, gaining her friends a clear path. "Terrence!! Please!!" Lillian shouts above the cheering crowd, she needed to see. Rory, seeing how desperate Lillian was getting, dragged her to the very front while Millie asked to surrounding people what was happening. "Lily.. you're not going to like this one"

Lily pales. "It's Michael Afton and Terrence, apparently Mike's winning" Millie says, her voice filled with concern. Lillian doesn't hear her. She thinks too quickly; Her legs work before she asks them to; She's running. "Lily-! You can't just- Oh my god.."

Terrence goes to hit Michael. Michael tells him to stop. It's too late. The crowd erupts into mumbles and gasps.

"Terrence.. You just hit your sister.."

—————

Michael Afton knew a lot of things. He knew that his siblings, Elizabeth and Evan, were annoying brats. He knew that Terrence Valentine would never cause harm to his own sisters. But in his opinion, the most important thing to know is that Lillian Valentine is a spoilt princess who hates violence and always gets involved in situations she shouldn't.

Alison Winters wasn't one of the most popular girls in school, that title belonged to the big three, but she was aware that she was close. She jumps between the two friend groups, but more often than not she stays with the tormentors. Her crush on Jeremy Miller probably made her a little biased though.

Jeremy Miller. The male casanova of this town. Everybody adores him. The kids in his grade fawn over him and the ground he walks on is practically worshipped. Personally, I think he's just a dumb fuck with a basketball for brains. He's nice though..! Sometimes.

Terrence Valentine, there's not really much to say about him. In a room full of people he's well.. average. Aside from being Michael Afton's best friend and being the brother to Lillian Valentine, he's never really stuck out. Sure he's gotten into a bunch of fights, but none were ever that important. Well.. Until now.
