"There will never be anything on earth that will make me as happy as you make me,"
I remember the moment your sea-green eyes locked with my mocha-brown eyes. I got lost inside them every time I saw them, feeling safe. They beautifully contrasted with your tan skin, which always seemed to shine in the light of the sun. I also remember the soft features of your face and the kind smile you always wore. Not even the hardships of the world could hide those pearly whites.
"Really? Not even your favorite stuffed toy?"
"Not even that," said the boy whose name has long left my mind.
The sound of a popular children's show theme played in the background as our conversation continued. We sat on the couch, surrounded by an army of toys we drafted.
"What about the money from the tooth fairy you just got?" I remember you laughing like you just heard the funniest joke ever.
"Nope."
"But why me?" I asked, desperate to know the answer.
You smiled at me and said, "Because you're my best friend, and I love you, Zara,"The memory had faded, but my eyes are now, once again, lost in your sea-green ones. The moment, just like the memory, didn't feel real. It felt like something out of a romance movie. Not my own life. But it was real, and you are with me after so many years apart. Joyously I said something I thought I wouldn't say again.
"Hello, Noah!"
