They were all around me. The zombies were everywhere. I didn't know what to do. Ethan was long gone, and Kai was probably dangling for a 204 story high building. Anything could have been better. I looked around me. There could have been something around me. A chainsaw, a knife, even a fork would be helpful. But all I had right now was half a broomstick. I couldn't escape. The school was filled with zombies—Scratch that. The whole city was most likely filled to the brim by zombies.

The school was finally out. I loved that they decided to end the summer early, giving me a chance to play lacrosse with Kai and Ethan in Stadium 4B. I went home and slept until the following day. I smelled my mom cooking some bacon pancakes.
"Good morning, Mom," I groaned.
"Hi Sweety, how was your sleep?"
"Can Ethan and Kai come over?" I asked.
"Already here!" Kai and Ethan came from the front door with grins on their faces.
I love the summer. After a delicious breakfast, we went bike riding around the city. We decided to go to the school where many students were partying. We all had a great time. Ethan won the pin on the donkey, Kai won the basketball challenge, and I was just about to beat my best game, PAC-MAN, when the whole building shook.
"Uh... What is going on?" someone asked.
Someone screamed at the top of their lungs close to the entrance. Then someone else. And someone else shouted right in front of us. The person in front of us looked scared, and then he fell to the ground, a pool of blood on the floor. A child in a black hoodie was right in front of me, holding a knife.

What in the world? Why did a random assassin-looking guy have to ruin my day? I didn't expect to see zombies in the classroom every day. Kai, Jacob, and I huddled in the corner behind the Pac-Man machine.
"Guys? Am I dreaming because, for some reason, there's an assassin-looking guy right in front of us standing in our friends blood?" Kai whimpered.
"WELL," I shouted, "How about we RUN!"
We climbed up the stairs and entered Mrs. Obraz's science class on the second floor. We learned that Obraz means "buttcheek" in another language just about a week ago. We closed the door hard, and Jacob used his super strength to move the desk in front of the door. Jacob grabbed a broom, broke it in half, kept the sharpest part, and gave me the other one. Then, the zombies poured in.

The air instantly turned stale. Jacob started running, while Ethan did the same thing but was further ahead. Those swimming lessons pumped up his strength.
"Guys! We're being overwhelmed!" Ethan screamed over the moans of the zombies.
"This is more overwhelming than Mazzio's Pizza!" I joked because that was just the guy I was.
Jacob suddenly stopped killing zombies. "Ethan, cover me! I have an idea! Let's use Mentos and Coca-Cola to make a big explosion!
I grinned. Jacob was a psycho, but that was probably the only thing we could do now. It's a good thing Mrs. Orbaz's class had a freezer that we filled with the ingredients.
"One person needs to jump into the middle of the zombies to detonate. Who's it going to be?" Ethan explained.
We all stared at each other. No one wanted to go themselves but me, being the one who always sacrificed myself for my friends, gave in.
"Fine," I sighed. I jumped on Mrs. Orcaz's desk and gave the mightiest jump I have done since the Junior School Olympics. Then, right before the zombies reached my bottom, I detonated the chemical reaction.

Kai went flying. He blew through the roof and went somewhere close to the Empire Nation Building. I hope he fell on the building and not somewhere close to it. On the other hand, Ethan and I blasted out of the second floor down to the first. There were a few zombies. Suddenly, we were back to being in the same corner.
"Ethan, any ideas?" I asked, but he was suddenly gone when I looked for him. I was surrounded all by myself. Usually, I would cower into a corner. I have monophobia. But this time, I didn't get to recoil into a corner. Because the zombies just stopped. I was confused. Were they being told orders by brain waves to their zombie leader? Did they all die after an amount of time? Well, that was a mystery for another time. They were all frozen and did not move at all. Well, at least I didn't die. I quickly took a breath and started looking for Ethan. He must be around here
