Have you ever been hit in the face with a dodgeball? I have. And believe me - it fucking hurts.

Particularly when it's fired at you full force by none other than Karina, also known as Hybe College's bitchiest bitch, who, despite her slim figure and seemingly innocent demeanour, she seemed to possess the quick aim and powerful body strength of an Olympic gold medalist.

We'd only been playing for about five minutes when I found myself on the sidelines with a splitting headache, most likely from an impending concussion. It wasn't pleasant to hear a chorus of "Oohs" echo the gym as I fell to the ground either.

I've always been terrible at sports. You know in gym class when everyone had to pick people to join their teams and there was always that one kid picked last?

That was me.

On sports day, I took so long during the egg and spoon race that by the time I got to the finish line the egg hatched into a chicken. The most amount of exercise I get is when I have to chase after the bus when I'm late in the mornings.
Since it was the start of a new semester, my best friend Lia has been eager to join a sports club, hence why I've been dragged along to dodgeball tryouts. So even though she didn't directly throw the ball at my head, this is her fault that I'm in this situation.

I feebly ran my fingers over the painful spot over my eyebrow and felt that a bump had already appeared. I glared at Karina darkly. She must've felt my heated gaze burning her back because she snapped her head to look at me and gave me an innocent little wave. Bitch.

A figure came into my peripheral vision, and I could already tell that it was Lia. She handed me a cold pack and I murmured a small thanks in returned. I pressed the icepack against my forehead, its coolness already soothing the throbbing pain. I felt the bench weigh slightly as Lia took a seat next beside me.

"Why aren't you playing?" I asked her.

"Well, when you almost got almost got knocked out, I rushed to get you an ice pack." She shrugged and pulled out a half empty packet of gummy bears from her back pocket. She always seemed to have some sort of snack on her for 'emergencies'.

"Rushed? Oh please, you couldn't stop laughing." I said as I helped myself to one of her gummy bears and popped it into my mouth.

She let out an involuntary giggle but covered it with a cough. "Well sorry - it's my duty as the best friend to laugh before helping you."

I rolled my eyes and playfully nudged her shoulder.

"For real though," Lia said she chewed, "I can't believe Coach Koya let her get away with that. I can't stand that woman, she keeps calling me Lisa."
