Singsong
By james a. galgano
Once hope and plenty now growing angst and gloom
Fills each aching ear drum with now unforgettable tune.
Whose familiar lyrics freely flow from lips like fallen rain.
Their meaning is quietly dense and perplexing to explain.
Nevertheless, they conjure up memories in repeated incantation.
Casting spell over all those who may hear its melody an explanation.
For feelings provoked unsparingly through endless repetition
Arousing reminiscence in all that has passed by efforts mere volition.
Attempting to resurrect once vivid moments of love and laughter.
Where now only barely vague visions of what was once securely captured
Within bedroom of loving embraces brimming with promises of forevermore
Now dwells within the silhouettes and cobwebs recollections from before.
A new reality created that is so hard to escape from freely or unscathed.
Yet within those familiar lyric's redemption is now eternally sought and saved
With unwavering conviction that with each repetition can be reclaimed
Some salvation that will offer once more hope and plenty from the remains.
