Everyone began stepping out of the car. Shivank also got out, but as soon as his gaze fell on Vaani getting out, an idea sparked.
“Wo… Vaani, samaan laana hai na? Chal, chalte hain,” he said, winking at her subtly.
“Haan haan, kaki, main apna samaan lekar aati hoon,” Vaani informed Rekha, taking a step toward the car.
“Dev ke saath jaa na!” Rekha called out just before they could go any further. Shivank’s smile faltered for a moment, but he quickly recovered, flashing Dev a forced grin with a warning look in his eyes. “Dev, you want to go?”
Dev, sensing the tension, gulped nervously. “I don’t want to die at your hands,” he muttered under his breath. Then, turning to Rekha, he announced, “Maa, mai nahi jaa raha. Bohot thak gaya hoon.”
Rekha shot him a suspicious look. “Kaisa hone wala pati hai tu, Dev? Apni biwi–” she started, but Shivank interrupted her.
“Hone waali biwi, maa. Biwi abhi tak nahi bani hai,” he corrected, barely able to hide his irritation.
“Haan, haan, ban jayegi ek-do mahine mein,” Rekha said casually, making Shivank’s annoyance rise even further. He threw another glare at Dev, who, despite being five minutes older, was always cowardly under Shivank’s temper.
“Maa, mai nahi jaa raha. Bas, baat khatam,” Dev declared and dashed toward the lift. Rekha stared after him, suspicion growing.
“Isne aise kyun kiya?” she asked aloud.
Shivank, seeing the perfect opportunity, replied slyly, “Lagta hai usse Vaani se shaadi nahi karni hai, maa.”
Rekha tensed, her expression hardening. “Toh bhi karni padegi! Maine Prafulla ko zubaan di hai. Vaani meri bahu banegi.”
Dev, who had momentarily returned to grab his phone, added cheekily, “Kaunsi wali banegi, wo toh nahi bola na, maa?” His statement earned a grin from both Shivank and Vaani as an idea started forming in Shivank’s mind.
“Chup kar tu!” Rekha snapped at Dev, who grinned mischievously before heading back inside. Niyati, Gaurav, and Ashish followed Rekha inside the building, leaving Shivank and Vaani by the car.
As Dev walked away, Shivank pulled him closer, planting a noisy kiss on his cheek. Dev frowned, wiping his face. “Kya idea diya hai, mere bhai!”
Dev held out his hand expectantly. “Lao, fir. 2000.”
Shivank shook his head in disbelief but pulled out his wallet, handing over the cash. “Jaa, aish kar.”
“Shit! 5000 maang leta,” Dev murmured, rubbing his cheek. Shivank raised a brow sarcastically. “Aur main de deta, na?” Then, with a playful grin, he tossed a one-rupee coin at him. “Here, you deserve it.”
Dev caught the coin, scowling. “Teri shaadi cancel karwa dunga,” he muttered, walking away.
Shivank rolled his eyes and turned to Vaani. “Chalein?” he said, opening the car door for her. “It’s a date, baby,” he added with a wink, planting a quick kiss on her cheek before closing the door.
