A cold drop of melting snow landed on his face. Shaking his head, Binding stopped to look over the massive hill he and his teams hunt dogs stood. He could see the village and the marketplace from up there. The dock and the coliseum, even the great hall.
But what he was really looking for was his home. A nice cobblestone house that he'd bought and built and expanded on from the ground up.
'I wonder what she's doing right now?' It's late in the evening, which meant she was either out tending the garden or drying clothes.
A warm breeze tossed his hair around, and he itched to return home.
After weeks of hunting boar, deer, and birds, he was ready to go home and bask in his wife's scent.
He patted the wild sheep he'd caught on its side and Shepard it along with the rest of the pack.
"Alright, men, take your prizes and scat." One of the hunting leaders said. He had a crate filled with goods that would be stored for the village and later used.
Hearing that Binding whistled for one of the vallhunds to help him guide them back down the massive mountain to his own farm. He had some cows and horses that he took to go hunt occasionally. Some Shepard boys that helped him tend to his animals.
'Almost there.' He opened the fence and let his sheep make themselves at home. The warm spring air tickled his nose. As much as he liked spring, he could do without the itchy eyes and throat. But he'd tolerate a thousand springs if only to see her happy.
Nothing brought him more joy than to see her smile.
"Hey, Cheese," the orange tabby yawned from the porch. Getting up to greet his other owner by head butting his ankles," I missed you too, let go inside hm?" Pushing the door open, he placed all this gear and spoils by the door,"I'm home!"
....
Nothing.
'That's strange, where is she?' He peeked around the corner to see if she was in the kitchen. Then he peeked into their bedroom, nothing.
"Pumice? Pumice, I'm home!" He hung up his weapon and rubbed his back. If she wasn't here and she wasn't in the bedroom, then she must be outside!
There were two gardens, one for the delicate herbs and flowers and one for the sturdy vegetables. A massive greenhouse where she could sit and enjoy the sun to her hearts content!
Stepping into the green house, he could see that head of pretty blond hair. There she was!
"Sunflower." He waited for her reaction and watched her jump! Looking around wildly for him. Unable to hold his excitement back, he rushed over to her. Hoping over the couch and tugged her into a tight hug.
"You're home!"
Ahh, yes, this is what he craved! Her kisses, Her love and affection! Feeling her lips leave their marks across his face made him smile. He felt like a boy again. She never failed to ruin him. She's the only woman who could ever draw such light-hearted emotions from him.
"I am, Have you been well? Do I need to get anything?"
She moved his hand from his lap to wrap around her hip," No, I just want you next to me." She put all her body weight onto him and pushed him to lean on his back.
"...you're pretty."
He said, unable to think of anything else. She was just so lovely sitting on his hips like that. Staring down at him with all the love in the world. Her gold accessories glinting off the sunlight. And her brown hair reminded him of freshly baked bread.
She giggled," Thank you. You're just as handsome as before for you left... I hate it when you leave." She tenderly touched his scard face,"I always worry.... "
"Nothing will happen," buried his face in her touch. This was home. In her arms, he was at peace.
"I'm just glad you're home."
"Glad to be back.... got you some stones and good stuff while I was out." He'd made sure to pack as many geos as he could find. Much like a crow with a mate. Binding wanted nothing more than to shower her with gifts and shiny things.
"That can wait, Have you eaten yet? Shall I run a bath?" If she knew he was coming home so soon, she would have cooked him something.
"You look pretty tasty."
She squealed in jot when she felt his kiss the dip of her collar bone.
"No!! You know I'm ticklish there!"
"Where? Here?"
"Bindings!! Please! Please I can't!" She squealed, trashing in his grip.
"Or was it Here!!"
"KYAAAAAAA!" another shout as he blew a raspberry into her skin.
"Ok ok, I'm sorry, I'll stop." He didn't try to fight the smile on his face seeing her cheeks so red.
"I outta let you starve after that!" She huffed, catching her breath. Standing, she pulled him deeper into their home to properly welcome him back home.
