"Mama!" Ellie says, running up to Sadie

"Hi baby! Are you having a good day?” she hugs her daughter and kisses her forehead

"Mhmm."

Sadie looks at Ellie's face. "Are you sure you're feeling good, sweetie?"

"Yeah."

"Okay, love, why dont we drink some nice almond milk? okay?" Sadie kisses her forehead again, and her smile brightens

"No." Ellie says, shaking her head

"What? why not love?" she looks quizzically at her daughter

"Milk."

"ellie, it makes you really sick when you drink milk, love. Remember last time?" she pats Ellie's head, hoping to convey her seriousness

"Milkkkk."

"No, sweetie! i know you want milk, but it hurts your tummy so much." she tries to look her daughter straight in the eye, hoping she understands

"Okay."

"That's a good girl." Sadie hugs Ellie close to her and kisses her nose

"Sit?" Ellie asks, pointing to the counter.

Sadie nods and lifts Ellie so that she sits herself on the counter. "Of course, sweetie! anything for you!"

ellie sits on the countertop and smiles at sadie

"You're so cute, you know that? you're such a sweet girl. now, no more milk, got it?" sadie gives a playful, stern look at her daughter

ellie nods

she smiles "thats my girl!"

"Bana?"

"You can have a banana instead of milk, okay?"

"Yay bana!"

"Yay!"

Sadie kisses Ellie's forehead and goes to the fridge to get a banana for her daughter to enjoy

ellie sits on the counter and swings her feet as sadie cuts up the banana

Sadie cuts the banana into small, bite-sized pieces

"Okay, sweetie, are you ready to try?"

"Mama, look!" Ellie says, swinging her feet back and forth while sitting on the countertop.

Sadie looks up from cutting the banana to see Ellie swinging her legs back and forth. She smiles warmly at her daughter and says, "Wow, those are some very happy feet!"

"There swinging," ellie says, leaning closer to the edge of the counter.

Sadie giggles at Ellie's excitement, and says, "yes, they are! they're having a little swing party on the countertop!"

ellie leans over the edge of the counter and almost slips.

Sadie grabs Ellie before she falls and holds her close to her chest

"Okay lets not lean that far off okay?"

ellie starts to cry

Sadie cuddles her daughter, hoping to comfort her and stop her tears

"Hey hey sweetie, it's okay! mama is here, and she's gonna make everything alright. Are you hurt at all? I caught you before you fell. "

"Scary." Ellie sobs

Sadie strokes Ellie's hair and kisses her forehead

"I know, sweetie, falling is no fun. but Mama caught you, remember?" she holds Ellie tightly, hoping to reassure her that everything will be okay

ellie hugs Sadie tightly

Sadie hugs her daughter back, gently rocking her from side to side "its okay, sweetie. were okay. mama is here with you. "

she looks into Ellie's eyes and gives a soft smile

"I almost got hurted"

"But you didn't, love”

she cradles her daughter's head gently "mama wont let you get hurt. i will always protect you, okay?"

"Love, Mama."

Sadie's heart melts a little as Ellie says those words

"I love you too, darling."

"Bana?"

Sadie kisses Ellie's forehead and says, "Yes, sweetie? what about banana?"

"Bana!" Ellie says, pointing to the sliced banana

"Ohh! right! here you go!"

Sadie feeds Ellie a piece of the cut-up banana

"How is it?"

she looks lovingly at her daughter, who eagerly eats the banana

"Yummy." Ellie mumbles, her mouth full of banana.

"That's good hun. are you ready for more?"

she gives Ellie a smile and prepares to cut another small piece of the fruit

ellie opens her mouth
