Sunday morning dawned bright and sunny as Liam woke up in unfamiliar surroundings and it took him a while to get his bearings but when he realised where he was he jumped out of bed and headed for his en suite to wash up.
He wanted to be ready in case Champ came early so he dressed quickly then pocketed the note. He'd decided that the best course of action was to show Champ the note first and then explain everything else afterwards.
After dressing he went downstairs to find Kiri and Kan in the kitchen with Kan's mum.
"come on you sleepy head, breakfast's been ready an hour" Sheila said tutting and smiling at the same time.
"better sit and eat Liam before she clips you round the ear" Kiri said.
"you make me sound like a right monster son" she said to her son in law.
"but you're my monster mother" Kiri said smiling back at her.
"I don't know" she huffed while shaking her head then turned to the stove to fry more bacon.
"did you sleep well Liam?" Kan asked him
"very, thank you"
"what time is everyone coming round son?" Sheila asked Kan
"dunno mum, I guess they'll roll up whenever" Kan said.
"what about Champ, that boy has been looking so poorly lately, I just don't know what's up with him? if I didn't know any better I'd say he was love sick" Kan's mum said not knowing about the situation with Liam.
"the thing is mum, we do have a bit of a situation ..." Kan explained.
"go on?"
"well Liam and Champ, well"
"just spit it out son for heaven sake" Sheila said.
"well Liam and Champ were ... seeing one another when he came to Thailand and Liam had to leave so he wrote him a note explaining but his agent stole it and Champ thinks Liam left him without saying goodbye so he stopped taking his calls" Kan said then gasped for air.
"oh dear that boy, no wonder he's been moping around like someone stole his favorite teddy bear, so you've come to make up then Liam?" she asked.
"yes Mrs Thiwat, that's if he'll accept my apology?"
"oh don't call me that love, call me Sheila or mum" Sheila said smiling and ruffling Liam's hair.
"everything will be ok, I promise you. Champ has always been a good boy, he's not one to hold a grudge but even so, don't you hurt him, I love him like he's my own" she said.
"I won't Sheila, I love him too" Liam said.
"if you love me, why did you leave without saying goodbye?" a voice spoke from the doorway.
"Champ dear, just in time for breakfast, come and sit down" Sheila said.
"that's ok Mrs T, I already ate, oh and I love you too" Champ smiled at her and ignored Liam.
"Hey guys, what time are the others getting here" Champ asked a little too brightly.
"dunno mate, they'll turn up when they turn up" Kan said.
"well yeah" Champ said.
"why don't you guys talk" Kiri said.
"about what, what do we need to talk about" Champ said.
"Champ, just go listen to the guy" Sheila said.
"Mrs T ..." Champ couldn't believe she was taking his side.
