Claude:
I stood over my beautiful wife with my hands on her shoulders and whispered comforting words into her ear as we nervously watched the little pink stick in her hand reveal one line or two lines.
"Whatever this test says, dear, I will be there by your side no matter what."
She sighed but didn't say anything.
I held her close to me and kissed her cheek.
"Three minutes feels like a long time just to see if we're going to have a baby or not" she said.
I looked at the clock on the wall and saw there was only one minute remaining.
"Just one more minute, Hannah. And still I'll be there for you no matter what it says. I love you."
"I love you too, Claude."
Finally a minute passed and we finally saw the results of the test. Negative.
Hannah looked at me but she wasn't sad or upset. She smiled. "You know what Claude. It just isn't our time right now. Better luck next time."
I hugged her close. I know she's sad deep down but she won't show it.
"I love you so much, Claude. But I need some alone time today, how about you go hang out with Sebastian."
"Are you sure? I don't want to leave you alone."
"Yes, Claude. I'm seeing my friend Ash today anyhow. He's going to help me do my hair. It needs a new style."
I nodded.
"Okay, my beautiful flower. But if you need me, just give me a call. Okay?"
"Of course, sweetie. Now go."
I nodded and grabbed my car keys and left the house.
Hanging out with my friend Sebastian will help me feel better but worrying about Hannah won't. I hope she'll be okay.
