My curls are eccentric
My voice is electric
My passion psychedelic
My body mystiqueBrown braided woman with her head held high
Her fro reaching the skies
The way she glistens in the sun rays making every man weak to his knees as they walk by
And at night
How she shines in the Aurora lightsBrown braided woman
With your cave of wonders
Have you ever had the question
"How long exactly do you bath in a coacoa river?"
The way your skin absorbs the abundance of it all
Envy strikes them for they know it's authenticThey call you a melanin goddess
Because you know you're worth more than gold
The little piece of treasure people crave to be or even just hold
Just our presence can make your skin crawl
And tremble with delight
For you've been blinded all your life of the prominent, dominant, influential step you find in a black woman's strideBrown braided brotha
King of the domain
Uses his pic like its his paintbrush
While his fro plays the canvas
His intelligence and deep integrity soars to the skies
While his hair defies gravity
Faded warrior marks from the many battles he's faced
But he is misunderstood because of the thoughts that if they are not visible, they don't exist
He is underestimated of his power and called a coward because of his strength
Belittled by an ignorant society
Yet praised by the same society that challenges himBrown braided brotha knows his worth
Confident of his stride
And takes pride in his work
Doesn't let anyone fear him for he's already experienced the worse
And his true power shines in his humbleness and cherished wisdomCall me an Afrodite
Because I wear my hair as my crown
My melanin is loud
Only time I raise a fist is to show im proudCall me an Afrodite
Beautiful black girls
Never go MIA to their race
We were blessed with full lips on our pure chocolate faceCall me an Afrodite
Because my brothas and sistas we're AfrocentricCall me an Afrodite
For we fight for what's right
Make sure the respect we get during the day stays overnight
Protect each other for we are the kings and queens of our kingdom
And strive to make sure no one snatches our coronals off our head
And make sure they fail if they decide to go after the throne insteadCall me an Afrodite
Because when my kind of blood sheds tears
We cry a sea of diamonds
For we know all the hurt, pain, and struggle we have been and are continuing to go through will be worth fortunes in the end
And then we will really be the richest chocolate there is
