A certain influential figure named Mr. Fang, through some connections, spent a significant amount of money to exchange a liver transplant surgery for his dying son, Jiale.
As Jiale gradually regained his health, he returned to school. Both of his parents were overjoyed, believing that the millions spent on medical expenses were well worth it.
Strangely, Jiale, who used to love music and had achieved Grade 8 qualification from the Royal Academy of Music in piano, underwent a transformation. He now had a newfound interest in playing table tennis. His previous favorite, Nanjing salted duck, was replaced with a liking for deep fried pork guts.
However, Mr. Fang and his wife understood that teenagers could be unpredictable. They didn't pay much attention to these changes.
About a year later, Jiale's mother noticed that he was rapidly losing weight. After Lunar New Year, she couldn't bear it any longer and took him to the hospital for a check-up.
The report came back as a shock: there were hard lumps in Jiale's liver, and it was unknown whether they were malignant or if there was any spread. Further tests were required, so he had to stay in the hospital.
Fortunately, the examination revealed that the lumps were not harmful and did not indicate cancer. After returning home, Jiale began to gain weight, but it was evident that he had become a different person.
He used to resemble his father in appearance and had a somewhat large build like his mother's brother, but his hands were long and slender like his mother's. Now, he had a slender figure, yet his hands had become thicker, and even his facial features had changed.
His father said it might be due to playing too much table tennis, which had altered his physique.
Time flew by, and Jiale was admitted to a prestigious government university.
Mr. Fang rented an apartment near the university for his son's convenience.
Jiale communicated with his parents very rarely, and eventually, it seemed as if he had disappeared altogether. Mr. Fang's wife often couldn't find her son, and when she did, he seemed like a stranger, exchanging only a few words before withdrawing.
Unable to endure it any longer, Mr. Fang and his wife went to the provincial capital to find Jiale. However, they discovered that he was no longer living in the apartment they had rented for him. The landlord said he had terminated the lease and moved out.
The couple searched everywhere for their son. After a lot of effort, they finally found him in a barbecue restaurant .
When Jiale saw them, he honestly said, "I'm not your son anymore, maybe I was before, but I gradually became someone else. I'm slowly regaining my memories from before the liver transplant. I remember that after school, I was practicing table tennis and got home late. It was already dark, and suddenly, someone grabbed me, covered my head with a cloth, and put me in a car. When I woke up, I became your son."
"But gradually, my own memories are returning. I found my real parents. They didn't recognize me. But when I worked with them in the kitchen, they realized it is me, their lost son. After I went missing, they searched for me for a long time and were very sad. They are getting older, and without me, they couldn't run the business. I don't want to leave them. You have money, maids, and driver, and government healthcare. You'll be fine without me."
Mr. Fang and his wife were heartbroken when they heard their son's refusal to go home with them. Jiale only promised to stay in touch and help them when needed.
As the sorrowful parents left, a girl entered the restaurant. When Jiale saw her, for some reason, his heart raced, and he felt a sharp pain in his chest. The girl, looking around, had an expression of disbelief on her face.
The restaurant owner came out and said, "Sis, have a seat! What would you like to eat?"
Thegirl said in distress, "Dad, I'm Ah Hao! I used to help you marinate thebarbecue and put it in the oven. You don't recognize me anymore! I don't knowwhy, but one day after school, I was abducted, underwent a heart transplantsurgery, and woke up as a girl, as someone else's daughter. I just recentlyregained my memories!"
