The new season was just around corner and Audrey Fernsby couldn't wait to put on the Manchester City shirt again and represent her club with her best friends and her girlfriend by her side. She knew that Lucy's contract for next season still hadn't been finalised but she was confident that she was staying at the club, she had no reason to move, well that's what Audrey thought.

"Narla come out the way," Audrey said as she bent down to get the lasagne she had just made out of the oven, however Lucy's small West-Highland Terrier was in the way.

The dog refused to move and so to avoid her food from burning, Audrey lifted the dog out of the way before quickly grabbing the dish out of the cooker.

Just then she heard the front door open and the footsteps of Narla in the hall to where Lucy was standing. Audrey grabbed out two plates and dished up the meal as her girlfriend walked into the kitchen, her normal cheeky grin replaced with a small wry smile.

"I missed you today," Audrey smiled as she walked over to Lucy to give her a small hug.

"I missed you too, let me just go and get changed and I'll be right back," Lucy stated before placing a small kiss on the centre backs cheek.

"Alright don't be too long though, otherwise you're food will be freezing."

Lucy nodded before disappearing out of the kitchen and Audrey let out a small sigh at her girlfriends distance and she knew instantly that something was wrong. She placed both of the plates on the dining table along with a glass of red wine for each of them which was a luxury of not being in season, before she settled down on her chair waiting for Lucy to return.

After forty minutes of waiting Audrey had given up. She ate her dinner in front of the tv, the only thing accompanying her was a few tears. Audrey always worked herself up, her anxiety taking over thinking she had done something wrong when more than likely Lucy had just fallen asleep from a busy day.

She retuned into the kitchen and placed her plate into the dishwasher, wrapping Lucy's in tinfoil and placing it in the fridge so she could heat it up tomorrow. Audrey then dragged her body up the stairs and walked into the bathroom, flicking on the switch to the shower.

She grabbed a towel from the basket outside along with the pair of pyjamas that were dangling over the banister, before returning to the bathroom making sure she locked the door.

Usually, the shower would be very slippery as Lucy would have had one and used about 500 products in her hair, however today it wasn't and so that meant that Audrey didn't have to risk falling over and breaking her neck like normal.

After undressing, she stepped into the shower, and let out a small groan as the warm water hit her skin. It didn't take her too long to wash herself clean and afterwards she wrapped the towel around her, then she brushed her teeth.

Before Audrey left the bathroom, she got changed into a pair of pyjama bottoms and one of her favourite hoodies that belonged to Lucy. She walked out of the bathroom and flicked off its light and was greeted by Lucy who was looking awkwardly at the ground as if she didn't know why she was there.

"Sorry I took so long," she breathed out.

"It's alright, I figured you were tired or something: you can reheat it if you want," Audrey said offering up a small smile, which Lucy reciprocated.

"Okay thanks babe, I'm actually quite hungry,"

"It's just in the fridge, I'll be down in a sec."

Lucy nodded as she walked down the stairs and Audrey walked into the bedroom, her heart sinking when she saw Lucy's suitcase packed with her passport laying on top of it.
