(Young Luna's POV)

set on this train with one mission: remain incognito.

I noticed as soon as I got on to the station that I had already built quite a steady reputation at this school, and it wasn't necessarily the best one. "Weird Girl."  not really the best title, but  I've seen worse. Poor Eloise Midgen had her reputation set as "moon face" for her acne from day one.

I remember looking up at my dad and saying, "Daddy, why are they looking at me like that?" he gave me a smile that looked suspiciously like a grimace, then said, "It's because they envy you. What little girl wouldn't want those beautiful earrings?"

I smiled and nodded. Obviously, I didn't believe him, but I didn't want the first thing my dad did was go home and worry about his daughter being bullied. So I kissed him on the cheek and boarded the train. As soon as I got on, I could hear the hush as everybody stared from their compartments and whispered to one another. There was no way to tell what they were saying through the glass of the doors, but I could tell it was my outfit. I removed my bottle cap necklace and Dirigible Plum-shaped earrings as quickly as possible, rushed to the back of the train, found an empty compartment, and sat in it.

The jewelry had been a homemade gift from my father to give me confidence on the first day of school, but so far, all they had done was degrade it. A group of three or so girls approached my compartment with a piece of paper and spellotaped it to my door window, then ran off, giggling as they went. I waited till they were gone to check. "Loony Lovegood" really? This day could not get any worse. I curled up on the bench with the jewelry pressed against my chest and wept.
