Part 8

I've loved you for a thousand moments

You felt the rain drench your skin as you pulled away from him. You shake your head slowly letting out a long breath. You grab on to his hand pulling it away from your mouth. Your voice is low but full of seriousness with a hint of anger, "No, you don't get to do this to me. You don't get to tell me I don't get to say I don't love you. Not when I have loved you for a thousand moments. Not when I actually remember meeting you for the first time. Not when I hold on every second with you and guard it against my heart."

You look up at the sky taking a deep breath shaking your head as the rain completely covers your face. You struggle to catch your breath as emotion wrecks each word that stumbles out of your mouth, "I need to tell you a story....One summer when I was a little girl about six years old. A boy came to stay at my house for that summer. My grandmother had always made sure our home was full of happiness but, that summer I was missing her so much. I had spent weeks crying. My dad kept telling me I would be okay that I would find my happiness but, it never came. At least not till a boy walked through the door. It looked like someone had personally decide to take away his smile. So I made it my mission to find my happiness and help him find his. The first time I saw you smile that summer, my heart felt warm for the first time in so long. When you smiled I felt safe for the first time in so long. I made you my knight because of that smile. That summer changed my life, and it has always been the most important summer of my life. That summer I knew I would never let you go. I watched you follow me for years. I thought you may have remembered me but, you never said anything. So I slowly gave up hoping you would remember me. Hoping that you understood what it meant to call you my knight? But none of that mattered because that summer gave me a thousand memories. A thousand times to remember just how much I love you"

He smiled. He closed the distance between the two of you. His smile lit up his face as he grabbed both of your hands, "Princess, I never forgot. I thought you forgot. I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't know how to let you know. I tried a million different times to let you know. I love you. I love you so much. I love you with everything I am. I will always be your knight and I will always protect you" You couldn't stop yourself from crying as you pulled yourself deeply into his arms. Your voice was full of emotion, "You didn't forget me?...I love you so much knight. I have loved you from the very first moment and I will love you to the very last moment." Both of you stood there and laughed in the rain, all unsaid words finally out in the rain.

Promise Ring

All he could was stare at you, his Princess. The girl who changed his childhood in one summer. The girl who spent everyday making it feel better than the last one. You made him feel special and loved in a way he never thought was possible. Every second he got to stand by your side felt like a blessing to him. The kinda blessing you never want to end and would travel to the darkest depths to get it back. You didn't just make him smile or feel, you made him live. He knew he had a promise to make you, one that he was smiling and running to offer you. He shoved his hand deep in the pocket of very wet robes, ignoring awful feeling of the wet clothing. The rain slowly still making its way around them as the storm slowly started to calm down just enough for it to be considered a sprinkle. He pulled out a small box squeezing it between his fingers. His voice is low as he says, "I have been holding on to this since I knew I loved you. Honestly, maybe even a little before that If I am honest with you. I want to give you this ring as a promise that I am yours and only yours. I want you to wear it with the promise that you are mine and only mine. This ring is a promise forever. The only life I can ever see for myself is the one where I am right here beside you. With this ring I promise you my forever." You swallowed hard not even needing to see the ring before you quickly uttered out the words "Yes Matteo, yes a million times. I will always choose the life where I get to be beside you forever"
