Chapter 11 ~ bffs ~

It was about 6pm when the rig rolled through Willows Brook village and drew up outside Kan and Kiri's house, the engine idling as Champ waited for Liam to gather his things together.

"what will you do this evening?" Champ asked.

"sleep probably, what about you?" Liam said.

"take the rig back to the yard, go home and shower and get something to eat then bed I guess, I usually come here and feed the hedgehogs but seeing as Kan and Andy are home, there's no need"

"can I see you tomorrow?" Liam asked.

"you're not sick of seeing my face yet? Champ asked.

"nope, so can I?" Liam prompted.

"sure, get Kan to bring you to the yard in the afternoon and I'll show you around" Champ said.

"I had fun Champ, thank you for taking me" Liam smiled, this felt like the end of a date.

"I had fun too, thank you for coming with me" Champ said before leaning over and kissing Liam on his lips.

"go on in and rest" Champ said.

That was Liam's cue to move his ass so he climbed down from the rig and watched as Champ waved at him before driving away and disappearing out of sight. Liam went through the front gates of Kan and Kiri's house and knocked on the door.

"what the hell are you knocking for mate, get in here already and tell us all about your road trip" Kan said as he opened the door.

Liam went inside, took off the boots that Kan had loaned him and went through to the kitchen where Kiri was cooking something that smelled yummy.

"hey Liam, how was it?" Kiri called out.

"it's been exciting, enlightening, interesting, fun ..." he replied.

"so you enjoyed it then?" Kan laughed.

"we slept in his cab overnight" Liam said smiling as he remembered them sleeping in each other's arms.

"was it uncomfortable?" Kan asked.

"surprisingly no, I slept right through until another lorry woke me up at 6"

"you sound ... happy" Kiri said.

"I am Kiri, happier than I've been for a long, long time" Liam admitted.

Kiri turned round with spoon in hand and told him that dinner would be ready in ten so Liam took his bag up to the guest room and washed up before heading back downstairs where Kan had set the table.

"can I help at all?" Liam asked.

"nope, it's all good mate ... so what's next?" Kan asked as they both sat waiting for Kiri to dish up.

"well I asked if I could see him again tomorrow and he said to ask you to take me to the yard and he'd show me around" Liam said.

"it's a bummer that he has to work while you're here, you're not getting much time with him" Kan said.

"I know but I'm to blame, I just rolled up here with no planning, I can't expect the guy to drop everything and put his life on hold" Liam said.

Kiri carried the plates to the table and sat down then they all began to eat, he had made an aromatic stir fried rice.

"if he hadn't been in his rig, he could have come in and eaten with us" Kiri had said.

"he said he was going to take it back to the yard then go home, wash up and eat" Liam told them both.
