Chapter 9: 'If I never knew you'

Much later into the night at Chihiro's village as Splinter, the villagers and warriors including Chief Raphael who are standing around watched as Donatello carried deceased Old Hob in his arms. There were sounds of murmuring and wailing. The crowd gasps and some weeps. "Who did this?" Chief Raphael asked. Both Ghost and Ryoma were dragging a human into their village. It took about three mutants to drag Xavier towards their leader. "Chihiro was out in the woods." Ryoma said. 

Jennifer suddenly appeared behind Jennika and Michelangelo who looked worried. Both Jennika and Michelangelo look at her as well and then look back at their chief.

"Old Hob went to find her." Ghost said as he brought the human down to his knees. Nathanial appeared behind the trio and grabbed a fistful of hair. "And this white man attacked them." He said. Chief Raphael pointed his staff towards Xavier's face. 

"Your weapons are strong, but now our anger is stronger." He said. He slammed his staff into the ground as he addressed towards the villagers and warriors. "At sunrise, he'll be the first to die!" He said. Chihiro ran up to the crowd. "But Father!" She said. 

"I told you to stay in the village. You disobeyed me." Chief Raphael said angrily. He had an anger expression on his face and in his eyes. "You have shamed your father!" He said. "I was only trying to help." Chihiro said.

"Because of your foolishness, Old Hob is dead!" He said angrily. He turned towards his three mutated warriors. "Take him away!" He said. Ghost and Ryoma took Xavier away, so they can tie him up until the sunrise. 

The crowd began walking away leaving Chihiro standing there alone. She collapsed to her knees as she closed her eyes and placed her hands on her forearms. Jennifer walked up to her depressed best friend who is on the ground. "Old Hob was just coming to protect me." She said. 

"Chihiro...I sent Old Hob after you." Jennifer said. Chihiro look up at her best friend. Jennifer kneel down in front of Chihiro. "I was worried about you. I thought I was doing the right thing." Jennifer said. "All this happened because of me. And now I'll never see Xavier Sanders again." She said. The female hybrid's best friend took her by her hand. 

"Come with me." She said. They went to the tent where Xavier Sanders is in. There were the sounds tribal drums and chanting that can be heard nearby or off in the distance. They came across two guards who are standing by the prison shaped tent where Old Hob's killer is.

"Chihiro wants to look into the eyes of the man who killed Old Hob." Jennifer said. T'Challa and Picasso look at each other. "Be quick." T'Challa said. Chihiro walked into the tent as she saw Xavier sitting there tied to the pole. She kneel down in front of him. She gracefully brushed his hair out of his face. He look up and saw Chihiro kneeling in front of him. 

"Chihiro." He said. "I'm so sorry." She said as she gave him a hug. "For what? This? I've gotten out of worse scrapes than this. Can't think of any right now, but.." He said. "It would've been better if we'd never met." She said as she pulled away from him. She look away from his glance. "None of this would've happened." She said as her voice was breaking.

"Chihiro, look at me." He said. Chihiro look at him with tears in her eyes. "I'd rather die tomorrow than live a hundred years without knowing you." He said.

[Xavier]

If I never knew you

If I never felt this love

I would have no inkling of

How precious life can be

Chihiro shook her head as she had tears in her eyes.

[Xavier]: If I never held you

I would never have a clue

How at last I find in you

The missing part of me

The moonlight shined down on them as Chihiro looks at him with tears stinging her eyes.

[Xavier]: In this world so full of fear

Full of rage and lies

I can see the truth so clear

In your eyes, so dry your eyes

Chihiro wiped her tears with the back of her hands.

[Xavier]: And I'm so grateful to you

I'd have lived my whole life through

Lost forever

If I never knew you

Her tail was swaying back and forth on the floor at the slow pace not because of his singing but that she is sad.

[Chihiro]

I thought our love would be so beautiful

Somehow we'd make the whole world bright

I never knew that fear and hate could be so strong

All they'd leave us were these whispers in the night

But still my heart is saying we were right

They look towards the doorway as they saw Kovu, Spot and Skyla standing there.

[Chihiro & (Xavier)]

If I never knew you (There's no moment I regret)

If I never knew this love (Since the moment that we met)

I would have no inkling of (If our time has gone to past)

How precious life can be (I've lived at last)

The trio came up to them as Spot sat down beside Xavier while Skyla sat down beside Chihiro as she put her paw on Chihiro's lap.

[Xavier]

And I'm so grateful to you

I'd have lived my whole life through

Empty as the sky

Kovu sat down next to Chihiro, in front of Xavier as he placed his head down on Chihiro's lap.

[Chihiro]

Never knowing why

The trio were sad to Chihiro and Xavier sad. Because Xavier is tied up and Chihiro is sad because her father is mad at her, Old Hob is dead because she thought it was her fault and Xavier is going to be the first to be killed at sunrise.

[BOTH]

Lost forever

If I never knew you

"Chihiro." Jennifer said as she called for her from the doorway. "I can't leave you." Chihiro said as she looks at him for last time. "You never will. No matter what happens to me, I'll always be with you. Forever." He said. Chihiro got up as she placed her hand on his cheek as she walked away towards the door with the trio who are in front of her. He saw the shadowy figure of herself on the wall. The door closed as she walked away.

Sakura: Sakura here. I hope you guys and gals weren't teary eyed for this chapter. It's like I said in my previous chapter no mutant nor human nor animals weren't harm in this book.

Raphael: It's a good thing tat Old Hob is out of the picture. Because no stinky mangy feline is going to be married to my daughter Chihiro! Or any of my daughters.

Chihiro: Daddy, seriously? Stop. *Facepalms*
