Under a paper moon and all those stars

Chapter 1

It was a late autumn night, I snuck out of my house to hopefully get some alone time in my quiet place, a small, hidden field next to a tiny river. I crushed the leaves under my feet enjoying the darkness. My family lately have been putting more and more pressure on me, they have been causing me to stress myself out and do stupid things, and just to make things worse my friends are leaving one by one. I stopped in my tracks as I looked up the hill to see someone else sitting in "my" quiet place. Slowly, I inched up the hill and coughed getting the figures attention. The hooded head turned and stood up making the hood of the jacket fall off of themselves revealing a boy with curly, long, blonde hair.

"Oh! I'm sorry, didn't mean to scare you." My words practically jumped out of my mouth at the sight of him.

"Scare me!?!" He yelled. "You gave me a heart attack?!"

I jumped back at the sudden burst of anger, but, his glare at me soon faded as he saw the fear in my eyes.

Sighing, he added, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have done that. I just am frustrated you know?" He truly seemed sorry, so I nodded and sat down while patting the grass next to me.

"Let's start over?" I asked.

He smiled and put his hand out, "Hi! I'm Ashton!" My heart melted at the sight of his big, toothy, smile.

"Hello, I'm Katie" I shook Ashton's hand and laid down looking at the stars.

"So why did come her. Not to sound rude" He stared at me from above.

"This is normally the spot I come to get away but, this time you were here." I breathed out.

"I came actually to do the same. I saw this place as I drove by earlier and I came to think." Ashton was cool and really nice. I remember seeing him before, him and his family moved in to the house down the street form mine last week.

We sat in silence for a while until he mentioned school. We talked about how he was going to start going on Monday and that he was just waiting for his sibling to get settled.

While we sat I thought of how my parents were forcing so much work onto me. They have been really pushy lately, I made the thoughts leave my mind before I cry in front of Ashton. I looked up to him and started to wonder what he was thinking about. He looked so cute, he had his eyes closed and seemed to soak in everything around him.

He started to say something but I felt my eyes slowly closing, it becoming hard to keep them open.
