Ventus and Terra see Aqua as a sister and promised to protect her if she was in danger. That promise easily gets broken in this game.
Ventus really looks up to Aqua. She was the first person who was by his side after we wakes up at The Land of Departure for the first time. During his time training under Master Eraqus, Ventus found himself emotionally attached to Aqua. He always wants to stay by her side, but gave her space when she needed it. He follows her through The Oceans In Between so he can keep his promise.
Terra also shares a platonic connection to Aqua. The two have trained together under Eraqus for the longest. The two even practiced together without Eraqus knowing. It surprised him when he saw Aqua use a small flicker of Darkness during the Mark of Mastery. On Eraqus's orders, Terra sets out to the worlds to bring Ventus back home and to watch over Aqua. Mostly to keep his promise.
Master Eraqus was disappointed when Aqua didn't pass The Mark of Mastery. He thought she had remembered and applied any knowledge he had given her prior to the exam. He's mostly disappointed in himself for not seeing Darkness nowithin her. He had trained her for a while and he hadn't seen the signs.
When Master Xehanort saw Aqua using the power of Darkness during her Mark of Mastery exam, it honestly surprised him. He sensed Darkness within Terra since long before and initially chose him, but after Aqua showed her Darkness, it changed his mind. After the exam, he finally noticed how deep and strong Aqua's Darkness ran through her.
Vanitas more or less is the same towards Aqua, just with a bit more spite after finding out that Master Xehanort sent her on a quest to vanquish Vanitas.
Kairi meets Terra instead of Aqua, AND LET ME TELL YA-
Aqua arrives at Destiny Islands before Terra and she bequeaths her Keyblade to Sora, just in case the worse should happen to her or her friends. Sora holds Aqua in high regard after their interaction. When Terra gets to Destiny Islands, he senses that Sora already had been given the power of the Keyblade. He didn't know that Aqua gave him the power.
Riku hardly meets Aqua. It was just a glance and then done.
