September 5th
5:30pm"I examined your resume Ms. Moore." He stated.
I sat in my seat anxiously wondering when he'd drop the bomb that he noticed my resume dates were extremely exaggerated.
"-I'm utterly impressed." He admitted, grinning like a child.
"I recognize a few of projects you've completed in the last 6 months. The ratings for 'Boats & Boobs' were phenomenal. I actually use to know the main actress, she's a good friend of mine. Long story short, welcome to the team!" He exclaimed. I gulped as he abruptly turnt around to rummage through a few drawers.
"Thank you Mr. Jones, I'm honored and glad you enjoyed the film." I trailed off.
"Ah, call me Ray! We need someone like you on the team, you have a good eye!" He turnt around, sliding a vanilla folder across the desk toward me.
"When can you start? Starting pay would be approximately $900 a shoot...with uhh..at least 3 films a week. Well, more if you have the right actresses or actors." He mumbled.
This is the best offer I've received since I started this type of work. "I can start as soon as possible, when's the earliest ?" I clenched the bottom of my skirt, feeling a breeze hit my thighs.
"Next week, fill out those agreements in the folder. I can get you ready for orientation and bookings by Monday Morning! You're welcome to do it here at the office."
He politely waited on my response as the theme song of 'The Power puff Girls' began playing from my purse. I gave a clearly embarrassed smile and gripped my buzzing bag, hopping from my seat.
"Thank you, I will take this back home with me!" I picked up the folder.
"Yes yes, I hope to see you soon!" he chuckled.
"For sure." I speedily walked out the office once outside pulling my phone out my purse.
BESTIE calling....
I picked up my phone and answered it, holding in my excitement.
"Girl, I'm on the way to my place right now I'll call you back, I'm just now leaving the building!"
I cheerfully bolted to my car.
My apartment complex was a straight shot around the block and a mile up the street so it didn't take me long before I was whipping into my narrow parking lot; pulling next to a white golf cart in front of my building.
I let out a loud sigh of relief, turning my car off and resting my forehead onto the warm steering wheel.
"Thank you Jesus." I whispered.
Tap Tap Tap
I lightly jumped, looking up at the handsome dread headed maintenance man tapping on my window. I quickly rolled it down returning the gaze.
"You gotta slow down Ms. Moore, you almost scraped the paint off the cart." He pointed at the rusted cart behind him.
"Awe, yeah sorry can't slow down, I'll be breaking my contract with NASCAR if I do." I nodded jokingly
"Right, right...wouldn't want to do that." he chuckled leaning his head in a little closer. "How was the interview?" He raised a brow.
I smirked. "How about I tell you the news later when you're fixing my sink like you promised!" He backed up from the car while scratching his head guiltily.
I rolled my window back up and stepped out the car with my things. He towered over me with his wet caramel skin gleaming from sweat running down his arms.
