Judging by the sound of the generator and how it worked, it was at least at 80% progress before you heard it. The familiar scream of a survivor being hooked.
Your hands unconsciously stopped working, ace's too judging by the sudden sparks flying from the machine. It caused him to cuss and you to know, even in your dreams ruin followed you.
"Listen here sweetheart, the killer just caught someone, and they have a curse that let the generator lose progress as long as they're not getting worked on. I can see what everyone else is doing and we are the closest to him. Mind working on this as I go for the rescue. You'll be safe as long as you run when you hear a heartbeat."
His voice was surprising calm and kind of fatherly. You and your friend always argue if he'll be a cool uncle or a total creep type. To think your subconscious agrees with her pisses you off.
"Sure, just as long as I can have your flashlight."
You pointed to the purple one in his hand, you'll finish the gen and start looking for the killer. You're bored out of your mind but the idea of all the progress going to zero sounds awful.
"But it doesn't work how you think it is, it has only few seconds and it doesn't light up much for you."
"Please? I'll feel safer."
He pressed his lips together before reluctantly handing it to you.
"Remember, hide when you hear a heartbeat!"
"I will thank you!"
You gripped the flashlight as he started running to the source of the scream. He had kindred. Good to know. You moved back to start your work again, thankfully it didn't regress much. It was almost a que to the noise of a generator getting done in the distance.
Doing it alone was the dullest thing you could imagine but finishing it was satisfying. Clutching the flashlight again as you grinned, feeling the adrenaline rush in your vein. It's time to chase the killer!
Clicking the flashlight in your hand, giggling at the annoying noise it created. Then you felt it, the terror and increased heartbeats in your ears. You could see David, injured and running from the hag.
The hag? And you have a purple flashlight with a battery in it? The smile only gotten wider as you started running to her.
Your eyes met with David who froze and got hit on the back. He probably was shocked to see a new face, one that was smiling so creepily at that.
She didn't seem to notice you as she went on and picked him. Running in front of her and flashing her eyes was even funnier than you imagined.
"Go and heal, I'll distract her!"
You announced confidentially are the confused man, but you couldn't stick around because she turned her head towards you looking for vengeance. You're new, so it would be easier than trying to catch David again or so you assumed she thinks.
Heading straight for the shack in the distance as the deformed woman chased after you, your legs didn't burn at all, but your breathing grew harsher. You always wondered how they got stamina to run for so long without getting tired.
Running through the shack, the flashlight beam aimed at the entrance which caused a muddy sound. She trapped the shack. Why aren't you Surprised.
The window was next, vaulting it and aiming the flashlight stopping her from teleporting to your location. She stood in the middle of the rundown building confused and angry.
You could feel her considering the worth of chasing you, putting more traps, or just leaving all together. You couldn't stop yourself from raising your flashlight at her face making her growl again.
She ran to the other door, clearly determined to get you even if it makes her lose. The laughter you let out probably didn't help your cause. Looping the shack is your specialty, having the flashlight didn't hurt either.
As you thought that, another noise of a generator rang out. 3 done, 2 to go! Window, door, door, window and rinse and repeat. Her bloodlust would build up, you'll run the opposite direction making her lose it by creating distance.
Another generator done and she grew faster, there's barely any distance and you know you'll get hit. Is going to another loop worth it? The shack pallet hasn't been dropped yet and you looped her for so long. She clearly depended on her traps to close loops so the flashlight and your accuracy in it really threw her off her game.
The searing pain pushing you forward made your brain go blank. The dripping red liquid from your back coupled with the feeling of the open wound forced you to bend down as you ran another round.
Pain? Bleeding? Open wound? This ......... this isn't a dream?!
