It wasn't the sunlight coming through the open window, nor the noise from the kitchen that had awakened me. It was the silence.

I glanced at the clock and it was only a few minutes after 10 but I was already up.

I dragged my feet to the kitchen hallway for the third time to see if Dad was awake by any chance but there was not another sound, the only audible sound was that of my footsteps.

As I walked back to my bedroom I heard a voice calling me from behind

'Lynn hurry up we're going to be late'

I looked back and it was Dad trying to get everything done in a second.

He was never the one to be on time for literally anything.

Luckily I had already packed my bags last night and tried to fit everything in one small suitcase.

I dragged the suitcase down the staircase.

'are you done?', Mom asked

I nodded silently.

I looked at dad and noticed there was a slight strain in his eyes that I had never seen before. Yes there it was!, an uncertainty.

Everyone else in the room had just the same look. The look of fallen foundation almost as if they were afraid that the house would collapse if I were gone.

They'll be on their own now, my father isn't always around so mother won't have anyone else to send around. I felt sorry for them.

I glanced at my mother for the last time.

'Lynn you'll be fine', she said

'I hope I will', I replied, and left the room before a tear drops.

I shut the door behind me and leaned against it for a long second, trying not to breakdown before making my way in the car.

After what felt like an eternity, Dad came in the car where I was already impatiently waiting to depart.

I could feel him staring at me even when I faced the other direction. The silence during the drive was oddly satisfying.

'uhh Lynn I think you will be just fine', said dad

'I know you will make us proud'.

I purposely ignored him completely keeping my focus on the view.

Dad's car stopped and I was convinced we had arrived. The place was more awful than I had thought.

The old house stood at the end of the street, its windows boarded up a few students watched as every car passed by. It was pretty unusual for a car to go near the school because it was a hundred kilometers away from the city.

'we are here honey', said dad

Just as I was about to leave the car, I went back and awkwardly put my arms around him and buried my face under his barrel chest.

'Dad I'm scared', I muttered

'Lynn I know that you will make it, me and your Mother will come visit you once in a while I promise', said dad

'I'm sorry dad please don't leave me me here', I whispered against his chest

'Miss Lynn Ford?, come on in your classes are about to commence', said a lady in what seemed like a military formal attire.

Her accent was what was very noticeable of her, maybe the huge zit on her chin too.

Dad slipped out of my arms, 'go now Lynn', he said.

I stepped out of the car and kept watching Dad from behind and watched him drive off.

His car drove passively and dissappears in a distance.

I got to my feet and reached for my phone in my bag.

'Young Lady what do you think you are doing?, no phones are allowed here. Only on weekends', said the Lady in the military atire

I quickly put it back in my bag and followed her from behind.

'As I walked in the gigantic school, the hallway became cloaked in an eerie silence. The students were all dressed in a prestigious uniform.

They stared at me critically as I walked down the hall.

'here is your room. Pack everything and make sure you attend your classes in the next 30 minutes. Your roommates will explain to you the rules here', said the Lady in the military attire

'hey I'm Emma, this is Jenny and that's Cassandra', Said Emma

'ohhh Lynn... Sorry I mean I'm Lynn. Lynn Ford nice to meet you', I replied

'Uh newbie the only rules here is, no man are allowed in this room, after 11 pm you're not going to be allowed in, what happens here stays here, ohh and you also pay your monthly rent by me', Said Cassandra in what seemed like a very intimidating tone.

'monthly rent?, I didn't know I have to pay for rent', I replied nervously

'please don't mind her she is just pulling your leg', said Jenny.

Jenny had the prettiest hair. The curls and volume complimented her full cheeks.

'but every other rules are real though. Just not the rent part', said Cassandra who on the other hand had ruby red hair and sharp features, you'd swear she came straight out of a magazine.

'Lynn classes are about to start, we should go', Said Emma pulling my hand out of the room.

Next to our room stood many other doors which I believe other students occupied.

We were on the ground floor which made us closer to all our classes.

As we walked down the spacious hallway my eyes glanced at the shelf where medals and awards were placed, but something outstanding caught my attention.

The antique doll that sat on the shelf. its eyes seeming to follow anyone who passed by.

'No one knows why it's placed here or where it came from, but strange things started happening after it appeared in the house. Many people say it's the eyes of Mrs Lauren.', Emma muttered

'Miss Lauren?, the lady in the military attire?', I asked

'yes. She's the principal', Emma whispered as we approached our first class.
