'He'll never find me here' Nina thought as she hide behind one of the women's working table. She peers over the table and sees Ajay turning his head left and right, looking for her. Nina giggles and ducks back under the table. After a few moments Nina decides to look to see if Ajay was still there. As she turns her head she comes face to face with him.
"Boo!" Ajay says making Nina shriek.
"That's not funny." Nina says to Ajay who can't stop laughing. Nina pouts and crosses her arms.
"Ajay! Nina! Knock it off!" Nina's mother yells.
"Sorry, Amba." Ajay says. Him and Nina walk over to Amba.
"You two know better than to be messing around yet you still do." Amba scolds. Nina and Ajay look down in shame.
"Let them have fun." Alpa, Amba's sister says. Amba looks up at her then back at Nina.
"Go put on your dress and get ready for dinner." She says.
Nina turns back to Ajay, waves and says, "bye, Ajay." He waves back with a sad look and runs to his house.
"Why do you do that?" Alpa asks.
"What?" Amba snaps.
"Ruin their fun. They're four, Amba, let them have fun."
"And what happens if they run off and we can't find them or someone takes them?"
"That's what this is about? Aleister?" Alpa asks.
Aleister is the most powerful male witch. The reason he's so powerful is because he uses dark magic. There are other witches that use dark magic, but there are none like Aleister. No one has seen power like his. God only knows what he would do if he got his hands on her.
Amba turns away and walks over to a table. Alpa puts a hand on Amba's shoulder.
"Amba, Aleister doesn't even know Nina exists."
Amba turns to alpa with watery eyes and says, "Word is spreading of Nina's power. He's going to come after her."
"And we'll be ready."
"I hope so."
At that moment Nina runs out of the house wearing a little orange dress. Amba picks her up and kisses the side of her head.
Nina didn't know why her mommy was crying. She hated to see her mom cry. She wish she could just be happy but she always seems sad about something.
'Why'd it have to be my daughter?' Amba thought. All she ever wanted was a family to be happy with. She never wanted to run or hide and she definitely didn't want her daughter to make the decision she's going to be faced with. All she can do now is hope she doesn't turn out like her father, Aleister.
