Let me tell you something, waking up at 3:30 in the morning sucks, especially when you're in the hospital. The good thing is, in only a few minutes some cute nurses come in. I know thats the last thing you would be thinking of in a hospital, but what do you expect from a highschool boy. That's what I thought, you expected nothing less. So I told you some goods and bads, yet I still forgot to tell you my name, then again apparently I've been forgetting a lot of things. Anyways I'm James and I'm 15 years old. Wait, scratch that, I'm 16 years old. Right? Okay, I know what you're thinking, "What's up with this kid," well I'll tell you what I know.
Lets see, about maybe a week ago, I got hit by a car. Don't worry I'm still in about one piece, but apparently, I hit my head pretty hard. I was taken to the hospital, while I was unconscious, and I was "okay". The only thing that's physically bad is I got a, let's say small, concussion. Now that's fine I'll manage, but the worst part is I forgot at least a years worth of memories. They found that out when my girlfriend came in and I had no idea we were ever dating. Yeah but now, a week later, I'm in a car (single) with my mom driving back home. The car isn't silent though, my mom is currently talking to me, but really to herself, about what she's going to do and whether or not to either homeschool me or make me go back to freshman year or not. Now my mom and dad got a divorce about 4, I mean 5 years ago so she's also wondering if she should ask my dad's opinion. Now I would talk to her about it, but if I do she might start crying, and I really don't want to see my mom cry, so I'll talk about it later when she calms down a bit. When I get home mom opens the door and a dog runs towards me. It takes me a while to realise it's Nikey. Last time I remembered he was a tiny pup, but now he reaches up to my knees. I pat his head and walked in the house. It's about the same. Only the furniture is moved around and the T.V. is upgraded. Nice.
"Okay James your friends will be here in an hour or so, so go take a shower and call me if you need anything," Mom said then added, " Oh, and your room is know where mine used to be, just incase you didn't know." And I didn't, I was literally about to go in my moms room but then quickly turned around and went to my actual room.
As I was taking a shower, I thought a lot about what I could remember. I can remember things like when I had my first kiss and when I went to my first day of high school. The last thing I could remember is when I went on my roof and took a nap. Yeah, I know that isn't the safest idea but it's nice on the roof. Anyways, I couldn't really remember much after that. Whenever I tried I would get dizzy. Then again it could be the steam from being in a hot shower for a long time. I got out and changed into a red top and jeans that I don't remember buying and got out. I was walking in the hall to the living room when I stubbed my toe on a box that was on the floor.
"God damnit, who in the hell would put a box there," I yelled out of frustration and pain.
"Watch your language. And that's the box you left there last week before the accident," Mom said to me from the kitchen. I picked up the box and took it with me to the living room. I sat on the couch and put the box on the coffee table. I opened the box and saw a bunch of year books and pictures. I saw one of my sophomore year, which was from last year to this year. I was skimming through the year book when all of a sudden I saw a girl circled from the freshman year, who seemed familiar even though I don't remember ever seeing. Her hair was straight and brown with brown eyes and pale skin. On the bottom of the picture it said the name "Amber Evergreen". Nothing seemed too special about her. I mean she seemed like a nice girl but she wasn't really that pretty . The only pretty she might get is pretty average, not to be mean. As I had my little ranking session the doorbell rang.
"I got it," Mom said as she got out of the kitchen and opened the door.
"Hey Misses Chandling, how have you been," I heard a boy's voice say from the door.
"Oh fine, thanks for coming, you guys can come in and I'll bring snacks in a bit," Mom answered cheerfully and then I finally looked at the door. There were 2 boys and girls. There was my best friends, Joe(male), Jordan(male), and June(female), (who i've known since middle school) and a girl named Katherine, (aka Kat, who was June's little sister).
"Hey guys, what brings you here," I ask as they took a seat in the living room.
"You just got out of the hospital and this is the first thing you say to us," June tells me in a sarcastic voice with a little laugh.
"Well we always knew he was never good with words," Jordan added which made us all laugh.
We talked for a while and filled me in about what happened since freshmen year. We kept talking until I remembered about the girl in the yearbook.
"Do you guys happen to know anything about this girl and why she is circled in my yearbook," I asked them as I showed them the picture.
"Oh, I know who that is," Kat shouted excitedly when she saw the picture, "That's Amber Evergreen."
"We can see that but do you know anything about her," I mentioned sarcastically.
"Well I have a class with her and the same lunch course. She seems very... quiet. She doesn't have a quiet personality though. She keeps things to herself, but if something really bothers her, she let's it all out, whether you like it or not. At lunch she's only with one other girl named Lucy. That's pretty much all I know, besides the fact that she's an A student," Kat added as she thought hard.
"She seems anti-social... why did you want to know about her again," Joe asked.
"I don't know. She was circled in my yearbook. I guess I was interested in her," I said then at one of the chips that my mom left out for us.
"Why would you be interested in her? No offence but I've seen way better girls out there that are way more interesting than her. And she isn't even that pretty," June said bitterly as she crossed her arms. What's up with her? Guess she's having a bad week, if you know what I mean.
"I guess I had some business with her. Or maybe she's not as average as we thought," I said softly but loud enough for everyone to hear.
"Probably, but I agree with June. There's way more interesting girls out there, but you never know," Kat said then Jordan's phone rang.
"Hello?...know...*sighs* fine I'll be there bye," Jordan said then hung up, "I got to go. My aunt wants me to get her some supplies for the shop. Anyways I'll call you later." He gathered all his stuff then said goodbye to my mom then left.
"Well I guess we'll be going to. Mom's expecting us before dinner," June said then her and Kat said their goodbyes and left.
"Guess it's just you and me James," Joe joked then we talked more about the randomest things. Next thing I knew it was 10 o'clock at night, and my mom has a strict rule about my friends coming over. Only from 12 in the afternoon-10pm.
"Sorry to disrupt you boys, but I'm afraid it's time for Joe to leave," Mom said as she looked at Joe and smiled. Joe was always my moms favorite from my friends, since she knew him since he was a baby.
"Yeah I know. Well see you later James, and you too Misses Chandling," Joe said then left the house leaving me to clean the mess in the living room. Once I finished cleaning the living room, I got ready for bed. I layed down and then Nickey cuddled next to me. When I was at the verge of sleeping, I suddenly thought of the girl, Amber. For some reason I had the feeling I would see her soon. Then I feel asleep.
