Cali returned to her room, shedding her coat and slipping onto the vanity chair. She began to remove her jewelry, her thoughts lost in the whirlwind of the day's events, including her heart-to-heart conversation with Sweet Pea. The room was a haven of serenity, punctuated by the soft glow of her bedside lamp.

Amidst this peaceful solitude, a gentle knock on her window interrupted her routine. With a curious glance, she approached and unlatched the window. Sweet Pea, with a determined yet slightly nervous expression, hopped into her room.

"Hey," she greeted, offering a warm smile.

Sweet Pea returned the greeting. "Hey, Cali, we need to talk."

The unspoken tension between them was palpable, lingering in the air. They both knew what this conversation might entail.

Cali's expression betrayed her curiosity and perhaps a hint of anxiety as she asked, "About what...?"

Sweet Pea dove into the conversation, his words sincere and earnest. "So, earlier, when I asked 'what are we?' And you said, 'we're just friends.' To be honest, Cali, it kind of shattered my heart. Now, you may think, why would he be sad that we're friends, but personally, I don't see you as a friend anymore. I see us as so much more than friends. That kiss on the riverside was the best day of my life. It was something that I had wanted to do for years. And for you to just brush it off like that... I don't know, it didn't feel right. But right now, all I know is that I want to be your boyfriend. But if you don't feel the same way, you might as well tell me right now, so I can move on."

Cali's heart swelled with a rush of emotions. She hesitated, searching for the right words to convey the feelings that had been hidden for so long. "Sweet Pea, I have always loved you. I don't think I could ever stop loving you. And what I said on our way to school... I didn't know you didn't want to be just friends. And I feel the same way you did. I just didn't want to lose you."

The sincerity of their emotions hung in the air, heavy with anticipation. Without another word, Sweet Pea closed the gap between them, drawing Cali into a passionate kiss, a promise of new beginnings and an unspoken commitment to what their hearts had long yearned for.
