The captain looks at her, motioning with his head for her to go ahead.
"I get to choose my name."
He nods, pulling out a scrap piece of paper and handing her a pen from his chest pocket, "Okay."
The Girl of a Thousand Evils takes the pen and smooths out the crumpled edges of the paper. She writes down three simple syllables in the blackest of inks: 뇌미우.
It's an uncommon arrangement but the meaning flows, connected by thunder and the fine, gentle rain that comes after. A promising symbol that's now hers to claim. A name that will help wash away the blood on her hands.
All that blood she fought so hard to spill and that has served her for nothing in the end.
