It'd been a month since Brian woke up, and he was still having trouble wrapping his mind around the fact that he was a Rare One.
The elderly Rare One, Lord Pyrite, had been an immense help to Brian, helping him harness his abilities and call them forward at will. He'd trained Brian for nearly 3 weeks before he left to return to his home, where his firstborn daughter took care of him.
Brian's healing was invaluable, and he was so thankful for it. He'd taken to helping the infirmary to train, and he'd saved at least 6 soldiers so far. He'd healed dozens upon dozens of injuries, soldiers being injured during bandit raids, uprisings and other fights.
The kingdom was healing though, Lanai rising above and beyond. Villages were safe, people had food to eat, health care available for everyone. People were praising Lanai for her alliances with Hadom and Barlong, the two kingdoms also prospering.
They'd announced just the day before, when Brian could stand and walk for longer than 20 minutes, their plans of crowning Brian as king. Lanai had made sure to emphasize that Brock and Evan were supporting them, and that Brian was not her husband, but her best friend.
There had been some backlash from it, but Brian had taken the stand and talked calmly to the people. "Queen Lanai has done remarkable things. She is an amazing person, and a strong leader. She's asked me to lead with her to advocate for the omegas of the land, because we are still stuck in old ways.
"Omegas are intelligent, strong people, capable of many things. My only wish is to see equality for everyone, regardless of secondary gender. I wish to see our people, the kingdoms of Hadom, Foningdom and Barlong, prosper and grow. I won't be king forever. Lanai will find her mates, and they will rule with her. My Alpha, Brock, will be taking over his kingdom someday, and I will go with him.
"But today, I am here. I am part of Foningdom, and I only wish to see the kingdom grow. I want omegas to see that we are more than bearers, more than a house spouse. We are people. We are human. We have strengths, talents, and, I hope soon, more opportunities to prove it.
"I'm an Omega prince. I'm one of the best archers of Hadom, I've survived the Rare change. I'm more than just an Omega, and I want to see more of you shine the way you deserve," he had said proudly, gazing over the crowd under the royal balcony.
There was a lot of murmuring, a few yells, but Brian's eyes had zeroed on a small child, maybe 12 years old, who'd stepped forward and gazed right at him.
He'd given Brian a beaming smile, hope clear on his face even from the distance Brian was. Brian had smiled right back, giving the crowd a short bow before stepping back. Lanai had taken over again and Brian joined Evan and Brock by the doors, the two men wrapping their hands around his.
"The coronation for the new King will be tomorrow, at noon. The crowning ceremony will be open for everyone," Lanai had announced and Brian had taken a deep breath, tightening his hold on his mates' hands.
That had been yesterday, and now Brian was standing in the side corridor where he'd stood almost 3 months back with Lanai the day they'd gotten married. But this time, Brock and Evan were by his side and Brian was dressed in the royal colors of Hadom, Barlong and Foningdom.
He had a special pin on his chest, next to the crests of the three kingdoms. A flame coming out of an egg, only seen a handful of times in the written history of the world. The mark of a Rare One.
Brock turned Brian to him, brushing his fingers along the omegas cheek. "I'm proud of you, you know," he said softly and Brian tilted his cheek into Brock's palm.
"I haven't done anything yet," he mumbled and Brock chuckled. "You're stepping up and taking charge. You're already making a difference. You've done a lot, and it shows in our kingdoms. Foningdom is lucky to have you, though not as lucky as Evan and I are to be able to call you ours," he said and Brian flushed.
