"So did you get any food? " Cillian asked, driving out of the local town.
"No, you just memorized me so much, " I said, resting my head on his shoulder.
"you must be starving, " he replied, "What are you in the mood to eat? "
If I was being honest I wasn't very hungry, but the thought of food seemed so appealing, "you know what I want, " I paused.
"What do you want? " asked Cillian, slowing down his driving to listen to me.
"I want a cheeseburger, " I announced.
"a cheeseburger? " questioned Cillian, "where can we get a cheeseburger at eleven p.m.? "
"McDonald's, it's open twenty-four hours, " I said, remembering how much I loved their burgers.
"Ok, a cheeseburger from McDonald's it is, " he smiled.
We drove for five minutes to the local burger joint, getting out of the car I put on Cillain's coat again, still smothered in the smell of him.
"I've never had a McDonald's before, " he chuckled, following me into the burger joint.
"Really? " I gasped in shock.
"Yeah, " he smiled, holding open the door for me.
Walking in the smell of fresh burgers and fast food hit us, and so did the hunger. Walking up to the counter, Cillian looked very confused, I'm guessing fast food was new to him.
Taking out my credit card, I decided I would pay for this, as soon as he paid for my drinks in the pub.
"Di, I will pay, " he said, pushing my hand with the card in it down.
"No, no! " I insisted, "Take a seat and I will pay, "
"But you don't even know what I want? " he said, placing his hands on his hips.

"I will guess, " I replied, remembering how he guessed my drink choice in the pub.
Going to the ordering station I knew exactly what I wanted, "two strawberry milkshakes, two cheeseburgers, two large portions of chips and a box of mozzarella sticks, " I said quickly to the lady behind the counter. The girl behind the counter handed me a number after I paid with my card, I felt so hungry I could eat anything. Looking back at Cillian, he stood awkwardly by the door, slowly tapping on his phone. He must be sending one of his long messages.
Patiently waiting for my food, I watched the people working at the fast food joint rush around, trying to make everyone's food in time. After only five minutes my number was called, meaning my food was ready. Cillian put his phone away, walking over to help me carry the food back to the car.
"let's eat here! " I said, sitting down on the curb next to the car, "I'm so hungry! " I exclaimed, ripping open the bag of food.
Cillian slowly sat down next to me, picking through the food.
"what's this? " he asked, picking up the milkshake.
" strawberry milkshake, " I replied, munching down on my juicy, mouth-watering burger, "oh my god, " I moaned jokingly. Cillian's ears perked up, looking at me as I moaned.
"I hope that's only about the burger," he laughed, slowly unwrapping his, and inspecting it before he ate it. Taking his first bite he didn't look impressed, but he seemed to enjoy it the more he ate it.
Opening the mozzarella sticks, I dipped them deep into the ketchup. The carpark we were sitting in was practically empty, dimly lit up by a few fluorescent street lights, in the deep dark midwinter.
The noise of the town could be heard in the distance, it was oddly peaceful.
After I had finished the burger, I rubbed my greasy fingers on my skirt.
"How did you like the burger? " I asked Cillian, watching him wipe his hands down with a napkin.
"It was good, " he smiled, "Wait! You have a bit of ketchup on your face, " he said to me.
"Where? " I said, sticking my tongue out, trying to lick it off.
"To your left, " Cillian said, as I pushed my tongue as far on my left cheek as I could.
"Have I got it? " I asked, laughing at myself.
"No, let me! " Cillian said, wiping my left cheek with a napkin, "there, beautiful, "
I blushed red, him calling me beautiful meant so much.
"Right I don't know about you, " he continued, " but I'm tired, let's go home, "
"Home, " I smiled, wrapping up the rubbish in napkins, before running to the bin.
Getting back into Cillian's car, I turned on the radio, finally singing my heart out to it, Cillian chuckled as I sang along to popular songs, impersonating different singers.
"Di, " Cillian said, in between a song.
"yeah, " I smiled, turning off the radio, "what is it, "
"You know I love you, " he said, turning to face me.
"I know you tell me all the time, " I giggled, turning the radio back on, "I love you too! "
Cillian smiled at me, before speeding up and driving back to his flat.
Walking up the old stairwell to his flat, his hands tightly wrapped around mine, I felt protected from the whole world.
Opening the door to his small flat, I ran inside, taking off my shoes and dumping myself on the couch.
"what do you want to do? " I asked seductively, biting on my finger.
"Don't know, " Cillian said back, a bit clueless.
Laying down on his couch, I looked in the corner to see he hadn't put up any Christmas decorations.
"where's the tree? " I asked.
"In that box, " he said, pointing to a little cardboard box in the corner of his living room.
"let's put it up, " I said, jumping off the coach.
"We can't put up a tree, it's midnight, " Cillian said, sitting down on the couch.
"well I will put it up myself, you can watch, " I said, opening the Christmas tree and box of decorations.
For a few minutes, I struggled to put up the tree, till Cillain jumped to his feet, helping me set it up.
Opening the box of decorations I began to wrap lights around the tree, putting pink and red baubles up. I wanted the tree to be all pink, but Cillian didn't get the vibe, putting almost all of the decorations on the tree.
Wrapping tinsel around his telly, putting lights in the flat window, putting Christmas ornaments everywhere.
"god I haven't seen the flat this festive since Grace left, " Cillian trailed off.
"Well I think it looks beautiful, " I said, staring at his blue eyes.
"You think? " he asked, looking back into my eyes.
"I know, " I smiled back, looking around the now festive flat, "all ready for Christmas, "
Looking at the clock it was now almost two am in the morning, and still, I didn't feel tired.
Looking out of the window I saw a small children's play area,  far down below us, "Let's go to the park! " I exclaimed,  quickly putting on my shoes,  but before I could reach the door Cillian barged in front of me.
"We're not going to the park at two am Di!" he burst.
"What do you want to do? " I murmured, "There is nothing to do, "
"Sleep Di, I want to sleep, " he mumbled.
"Why? " I replied, "There's nothing to wake up for? "
"And there's nothing to stay up for, " he said,  walking into the bedroom.
Following him I dragged my feet along the floor,  making screechy pitch noises.
"So you just want to sleep, " I said,  falling onto the bed.
"Yes and that's what you should do, " he said while changing into his pyjamas.
"Can't, haven't got anything to sleep in," I remembered, "My bags are still in the car,"
"Fuck, sorry gorg," he replied, pulling on his pyjama bottoms.
"It's fine," I sighed," I will just sleep in the clothes I'm wearing now,"
"Take my pyjamas," Cillian said, now rummaging in one of his draws, "Can't let you sleep in the same clothes you have been wearing all day," he threw me over a pair of plain blue pyjamas.
"Aw thank you," I smiled, I watched him lay down on the bed,  I was thinking of going to the bathroom to get changed,  but I didn't feel any bit uncomfortable around him.  Looking at him sitting on the bed, he was trying hard not to look at me getting changed,  it was rather amusing.  Every few seconds quickly looking and turning away again.
Taking my hair out of the ponytail, I ran my fingers through it,  trying to get out any large knots.
Cillian pulled away the cover of the bed, encouraging me to get it.  He lay in bed, reading a book with a pair of glasses on, he looked quite charming.
Getting under the warm blankets and sheets,  I snuggled up to his chest, looking at the book that he seemed so interested in.  Putting an arm around me, I could see he was looking down at me,  looking up to face him our eyes met.
"Hello, " I whispered under my breath.
"Hello di, " he hushed back.
I gave a small smile,  kissing his forehead.
The dim lights slowly sent me to sleep,  laying on Cillian's chest as he read his book into early morning.
