Before going to Syria, Hetty's main request was that she got to keep in touch with her team in case they needed her.

On 1 of her talks with Nell, she was informed that LAPD was facing budget cuts, and that Deeks's Liason position was being terminated. Hetty immediately issued calls out to the heads of LAPD urging them not to cut the liason position.

But sadly, her calls were for naught, as LAPD cut the liason position in early December, meaning Deeks was no longer a part of NCIS.

Which meant there was only 1 other way to get Deeks back on her team: FLETC.

Unfortunately, that was proving to be easier said then done.

Over the phone.

'Mr. Deeks is 1 of the finest officers I have ever worked with, he deserves to become an NCIS agent! I don't care how old he is, you simply must let him in!' She demanded.

'I'm sorry, Miss Lange. But I don't see how I can let an aged cop into the program. Would he hold everyone back? Would he be able to get through training okay? Does he need diapers? These kind of things matter!' The FLETC CO replied.

'No, he does NOT need diapers! I've known him for over 10 years now, he is a fit as every young trainee out there.'

'I hate to ask the obvious, but didn't you an application years ago to become an NCIS agent? If so, then why didn't he ever turn it in?'

'I don't know, and that's not important right now! What matters right now is making sure Mr. Deeks gets his well deserved spot on my team as an NCIS agent! Now, either you let him in to FLETC, or I will use every resource at my hand to make sure you resent saying no. And trust me, sir, I can make many, many calls, even from war zones!' Hetty sternly demanded.

Not willing to test the fiery old lady, he agreed to let Deeks in.

A month later., over the phone.

'What do you mean you can't give him his badge?!' Hetty exclaimed.

'I'm sorry, Miss Lange, but Mr. Deeks is not fit to be an NCIS agent. He struggled with training, and just today, he got a cracked rib during a scuffle. I tried to tell you he was too old for this.' The FLETC CO replied.

Hetty then hung up the phone.

'Huh. She took that well.' He muttered. Then BOOM! Her face showed up on the TV screen the CO had in his office!

'Do you know how old I am, sir?!' Hetty sternly asked.

'Miss Lange, this is quite inappropriate!'

'I've been serving my country since well before you were born! And at this moment, I am overseas on a classified mission, and while I am much older then everyone else I am working with, I can fight just as well as they can! And they certainly do not make any insulting claims about me being too old to work with them!'

'Look Miss Lange, I appreciate you sticking up for your friend, but the facts are this: He does not qualify for a Special Agent badge because he did not pass training. And you can threaten me all you want, but I cannot give a badge to someone who couldn't prove himself worthy of earning it. It's not right.' The CO said, trying not to quiver.

'Then is there any other badge you can give him? I'm not about to lose a good officer just because you couldn't see how capable he is!' Hetty asked.

'Would an Investigator badge do? It's the only thing I can think of to make Mr. Deeks an official part of your team without it looking like I gave a badge to a failed trainee.'

'Good enough. I also have 1 last request.'

'What?' The CO wearily asked.

'I get to be the 1 to give it to him, not you, and not any of your men! Have the badge sent to my desk at the Office of Special Projects in Los Angeles by tonight. No exceptions! And if you fail to do so, I swear to God, I will have your job!'. Then Hetty hung up the call.

'Man, she's scary! And annoying.' The CO muttered, very, very quietly in case she could still hear him.

That evening, Deeks officially became a part of NCIS, all thanks to Hetty.
