"From the mountains to your left and as far as you can see and more to your right. "
When he said mountains to the left I looked. Stared more like it. I've never seem mountians, and suddenly I had the urge to just throw off my shoes and run to them. I wanted to climb them in seconds and feel the wind on my face. I turned back to the guy only to notice him staring at the mountains too. Must be thinking the same thing as me. I thought to myself.
"Got a name" I casually asked even though I was dying to know. Is he a prince or WHAT!! "I already told you, you're place is fl-" "no!" I cut him off, "I don't want to know the name of this place. I want to know your name" I blushed a little at that. I didn't even like this boy, I was just embarrassed at asking.
"Caden" he replied with, "my name is Caden. And I am but a humble servant of your father, the king. And he will be very glad to see you after all this time princess. Please, follow me to your castle." I could see the gleam in his eyes when he said your. He was enjoying my complete ignorance of the situation. And I tool that as a challenge to my intelligence.
He held out his hand to me so I could grab it and he lead me to the castle he knew where he was going and we sped through all the rooms until we reached what u assumed was the kings study.
"Master" Caden said as he bowed. "Your princess... has returned" with that kind of entrance I didn't know how to respond. "Hi! I mean, hi... dad, or should I call you something else or-" I was interrupted by the giggling of Caden and sent him a scowl.
"Kiara?" The man who I assumed was my father stood up and cradled my face in his hand as he drew circles softly on my cheek with his fingers, "is it truly you? Returned after all this time?"
"Is that my name father? Kiara? Because that is a very beautiful name. Might I ask where it originated from?" I asked.
"Your mom thought of it. You have her eyes" he said as a sad expression slowly spread across his face.
"So I've heard" I had meant it to be a joke but when I looked up I could see that he was stricken with sadness. "Where is mother, father? No one's mentioned her. Do I even have one?"
The look on his face was such pure, terrible sadness. "You know longer have a mother keya ((that's the nickname her father gave her FYI)), just as I no longer have a wife to call my own" he collapsed into his chair and I decided that this was a sensitive topic and wanted to drop it but... I was so curious. So I continued on. "How did she die?" "Childbirth" he answered automatically. "You are the youngest, she died giving birth to you"
I felt the shock all over my face and couldn't hide my gasp.
