Zimi
(Today is Saturday, and we're hanging out with my friends at the Point On Waterfront restaurant. We're all relaxing since we've been incredibly busy and hadn't had the chance to get together in a long time. This place is a restaurant during the day, but as the evening progresses, it transforms into a club. Our food has just arrived, and we're munching away while catching up. We've finished eating and are now on our third round of drinks. My friends are getting a bit tipsy from their alcoholic drinks, but I'm relieved they didn't drive here. While we're enjoying our drinks, some guys sit across from us, and I can't help but notice some familiar faces. I try to get a better look at them, but I stop because it's impolite to stare. I can feel that one of the guys is looking at me, and as if he heard my thoughts, he stands up and makes his way to our table. I lift my head, and to my surprise, it's the guy I knew from my first yearLwazi: Hello, ladies.
Girls: (Inwardly rolling their eyes) Hi.
Zimi: Lwazi, right?
Lwazi: Yes, I'm glad you still remember me. How have you been? I haven't seen you in a while.
Zimi: Oh, I thought you no longer stayed in Durban.
Lwazi: Fun fact, I've been right here all along, but I've never run into you before. (He looks a lot grown from what I last saw him as, so I met this guy in my first year in varsity and when I was on my second year, he started hitting on me and I must say I was flattered but not interested in a relationship. We became super close as friends, it got out of hand when we kissed by mistake, and after that we'd just randomly kiss and hug just for the fun of it, but I put a stop to it since we both weren't intentional about it. Now here he is looking all grown and nice, life must be nice.)Lwazi:Listen man, since you're busy with your friends, can I have your number so we'd catch up some time(he says handing me his phone)
Zimi:Sure(I punch in the number than hand it back to him)
Lwazi:Thank you, I'll see you around, nice meeting you ladies(he takes the phone and looks at the ring on my hand and smiles)
(The night is still young for the ladies I'm with, we've been constantly waiting for the waiter to bring our last bill, I end up standing and heading to the order booth, I sit on the bar stool that's there as I take my card out and wait for them to bring the bill, I immediately feel hands snaking around me and a kiss on my back shoulder Haibo is my man around??! I turn around and it's Lwazi, noo he can't be doing that to me in public.)
Lwazi:Ntokazi enhle
Zimi:Lwaziyou definitely should never do that to me
Lwazi:Aiboo why??
Zimi:Because I'm a married woman(he chuckles)
Lwazi:Ohh I noticed the ring but that's not a problem, intombi aycoshwa phansi vele
Zimi:I'm serious Lwazi!!!
Lwazi:Fine phela but mina I don't get what's the big deal.So your husband is at home alone while you're here, is he that boring??
Zimi:No he's busy, hence I'm here but heading home soon. (I feel my body feel crazy things, I look around, there's my husband walking in with his friend Nhlaka, he heads to the ordering booth where we're seated, now I can't help but stare, Lwazi touches my thigh and I shoot him a look)
Lwazi:Are you fine(I swiftly remove his hand from my thigh)
Zimi:I'm fine (mind you I'm now facing in the direction of the entrance, my back facing the booth, my man stops in front of me now looking not so pleased eish, he moves closer, holding my figure and kisses me deeply, I'm sure he's making this guy jealous)
Lwazi:Yoh get a room(Mvelo shoots him a look)
Mvelo:Konje who are you, my wife's new bodyguard??
Lwazi:What??! No why?
Mvelo:I'm looking at how close you are to her(yooh)
Zimi:Baby nizokwenzani lana?
Mvelo:We ordered some meat online, so we're here to collect it and collect you also I guess cause I'm not leaving you here.
Zimi:Alright I was on my way out after paying.(I've paid, Mvelo and his friend got their order and we're headed to the parking now)
Mvelo:Listen my friend will take your car okay??
Zimi:Sure let me check for the keys(I hand them to him and he leaves, I watch as he drives my baby out of the parking, nice. Mvelo opens the door for me and I enter and we drive off. )
Mvelo:Zimi you like seeing me angry neh?
Zimi:No I don't
Mvelo:Then why do you keep letting men get their way with you (I sigh)
Zimi:But I don't tell them to do that, they just do and I stop them if they become touchy touchy
Mvelo:Really now? That guy held on to your thigh for a good ten seconds before he removed his hand, are you that slow that you didn't react all this long??
Zimi:Baby I'm sorry(I decide to be the bigger person before this turns into an argument.)
Mvelo:Stop saying sorry, uyangnyanyisa usorry wakho because you do these silly things knowing you're gonna say soryy bese mina islima I get over it.
Zimi:Hau baby but you're making a big deal out of this(the car comes to a halt, when I look we're parked outside our house)
Mvelo:So a man grabbing my wife's thigh isn't a big deal??Clearly your aunts abakyalanga kahle on how to behave a a wife because you're not acting a someone's wife you're acting like a street whore(yooh, I feel my eyes heat with tears)
Mvelo:I can't have to worry about you and then worry about men that will be flirting with you, I know you're beautiful and you attract men but as soon as they get to you, you act like a married woman that you are, you shouldn't wait for them to touch you before you tell them you're married. Mina angsazi Zimi ngenzeni ngawe, you know about my mental health state and how I became after dealing with that, I don't want to be driven back to that state by you making me agitated every time I can't sisi. (He says that getting out of the car, and I cry so loud, I can't be hurting a man I claim to love like this, and for the fact that I thought he was going to turn this into a petty fight, but he didn't he just told me nothing but the truth, wangi giver ocash mahhala hha yoh, am I really a bad wife, I mean I don't want to drive him to any state of mental illness due to my actions so I really don't know what to do shame.)
