Regulus

During the first days of classes, Regulus could barely step foot in the corridors that first-year students followed the shine of his prefect pin and came asking where a classroom or another was.

He had to stop himself to roll his eyes a few times, but he inwardly smiled. He knows that he would have been just as lost without his brother.

His friends endelessly teased him for being the savior of lost young students everywhere, though.

In all his classes, the professors' first words were about stressing the importance of approaching this upcoming year as if it were the N.E.W.T.s year, and, true to their words, they drowned them in homework since the very first day.

He likes his courses, and all the others do too, but they all somehow came to a silent agreement to restrain their enthusiasm in talking about them, because Barty is getting restless, and they don't know how to help him.

Quidditch is able to put a smile on Barty's face again, though.

That week, the team started to practice again. Regulus had to lead the tryouts for a new chaser, as Derrick graduated last year.

He discovered a very talented third-year, Malcolm Partridge, and he fit right in during the first practice with the entire team.

Avery, on the other hand, seemed not to fit too well anymore, never failing to pretend to not have heard Regulus giving him one direction or another.

Regulus was too busy even to reprimand him, hoping that he will get it out of his system and get over the contempt towards Regulus.

By Friday morning, it felt as though school had started months ago.

Regulus is having breakfast with jam toast, but he wishes he had some of the peanut butter that the Potters always keep at home.

"I adore it," Pandora smiles, talking about her tutoring. "The kids are very sweet, and they get so enthusiastic every time they succeed in something new".

"Sweet? The first years?" says Rodolphus, laughing. "The same ones who're always shrieking and running around? You mean annoying."

"You know you have been a first year too, right?" says Dorcas.

"And a very annoying one, might I add" Marcus grins.

"No, I wasn't!" exclaims Rodolphus.

"Yes, you were. None of us could stand you" Barty grins, ruffling his hair.

"Maybe it had to do with you coating us in green jelly during Potions, though," says Regulus, giggling.

"Hey! At least I didn't spill the Shrinking Potion on anyone, like someone here," Rodolphus grins, looking at Marcus. "It took two days for that girl to come back to her normal height."

"How could we forget?" says Dorcas, laughing.

In that moment, Evan appears and sits down beside Dorcas.

"Stop with the library, school just started," Dorcas reprimands him.

"I wasn't in the library, distrustful," Evan says, smiling, "I just joined the school paper."

"We have one?" says Marcus.

"The future school paper", Evan chuckles. "Some Ravenclaws put up a flier on the board seeking help to found it."

"Oh, I like this idea, Ev" says Pandora.

"Go Evan," exclaims Dorcas. "Do you need some help? Signatures?"
