"Oh hello dear, it's so good to see you!" My mother hugs me tight.
"Oh my how you have grown!""Yes Mama," I say with a hint of sarcasm. "Sometimes I like to grow. Just see how the weather is."
"Smartass." My mother laughs "You're just in time for dinner!"
Chicken and Rice. I hate the taste of it, but it tastes like home. When I was a kid all we ate was Chicken and Rice.
"Oh man, it looks delicious Mama." I smile, masking the weight in my chest. "Thank you so much."
We eat for a bit. Chatting about college and how it's going. Talking about friends and girls and food and life. The endless Buzz of sound is almost entertaining. I suppress my sentiments. I know I am just delaying the inevitable.
