Kanao and Aoi are not related, at least from my perspective. Because both of them are not from the same family and were "adopted" by the Kocho sisters. But it still doesn't mean that they are related... The Kocho sisters more like took care of them, not adopted them... If Kanao and Aoi were adopted, they would simply get the surname "Kocho", BUT they didn't get it, I know when they chose the surname in the options there was also Kocho, but none of them chose it, and even if one of them did, they still wouldn't be related, because the other one would have a different surname. I know also Kanao called Kanae and Shinobu sisters, but she didn't call Aoi that, and what she called Kanae and Shinobu doesn't matter. I know people see this relationship as a sisterly one, but I just see it differently...
