*** {AUTHOR'S NOTE:} ***
Hello. I am Dio, or @peauson, and this is my first time writing on Wattpad; I have used the app countless times throughout my life, but not for this purpose up until now. If you are a stranger hearing about me or stumbling across this story for the first time, I would prefer you not read this story per se, but so long as you do not plan on overwhelming me in any way and you remain respectful, go ahead. I am just some silly guy who likes to write w/ his ocs. Admittedly, this story was somewhat lazily done and rushed, but oh well - this is all for fun in the end, not for professional purposes by any means. Enjoy!

I never thought I would find myself doubled over my sink with my friend, Averly, beside me — but here I was, doing just that: leaning against the bathroom sink while blood trickled down my face.

My face was a little flushed from how timid I was feeling. I felt awfully hot, as if I were trapped in some sauna. I was not used to Averly taking care of me like this, even for something as simple as a nosebleed. I felt vulnerable; a little exposed, even.. and I didn't know why. I mean, she was by my side the entire time I was going through my appendicitis disaster from merely months ago — from the initial symptoms (which, to nobody's surprise, she thought I was just getting possessed), all the way to the trip to the hospital, and even went as far as to accompany me on my way home. This wasn't nearly as bad, but I couldn't help but feel a little timid anyway, despite myself. We weren't even that close, coming to think of it.

Averly had done the courtesy of tying my hair back, and even washing the blood from my face and neck. Hell, she even removed my glasses from my face and placed them back tenderly within their case, like they were easily going to break if she didn't otherwise. I have never seen her being so caring, so affectionate before, even if it was subtle - to me, anyway. Maybe I was overanalysing it too much.

Howbeit I thought of it as nothing but a normal midnight nosebleed, Averly was insistent on a narrative far different from my own.

Typical.

"Speak to me, Mes. Do you have a headache? Any heartburn? Perhaps you feel the energy of evil spirits seeping into the very core of your soul?" Averly hums softly to herself, as I feel her eyes trail down my body, as if she is expecting to spot some sort of anomaly. This only served to make me a little self-conscious.

I huff forcefully into the sink, before finally turning my body and my full attention to her. I quickly grab a tissue to hold firmly against the bottom of my nose. "No, no.. nothing like that, of course not, Averly. I get what you are trying to say, but I don't think this is the case this time. Not after my appendix ruptured. In the graveyard, mind you." I rub one of my eyes, feeling myself grow a little tizzy. "I haven't even physically gone to the graveyard today. So, I strongly doubt it has to do with that."

Averly shakes her head, dismissing me completely. "I have read that nosebleeds are a common sign of a possession taking its effect. Are you sure you don't feel anything odd?"

Feeling a little off-put by her handful of questions, I furrow my brows, all the while squinting my eyes at her. "No! No, not yet, Averly. I have a feeling I have yet to experience anything such as a possession. Especially as of yet. Let's not get too ahead of ourselves."

"Oh, but I-"

"No." Realising I subconsciously raised my voice at her, I quickly held myself together. "I.. I know, you want to believe it, too. I know. But we can't get ahead of ourselves. It'll only serve to drive us insane. Stop taking every minor inconvenience as a sign of something supernatural. Please? Please." I turn back towards the sink, where I proceed to turn on the water and splash my face. ".. Now that you mention it, I really need to start sleeping more. I can already feel a headache threatening to force itself onto me..-"
