I sat down on a rock in the dark cemetery, feeling defeated. I had the best costume this year, and it was all for nothing. Those stupid teenage boys took all of my candy! I kicked the rocks on the ground, muttering with as much hatred as a first grader could gather, until I was interrupted by flashing lights in the sky. I looked up, dazed, to see three women flying on broomsticks! Two of them were ugly, but one was really pretty. She had beautiful blond hair, and pale skin and light eyes that contrasted well with her dark makeup. I stared at her for a bit, until a group of people started fighting the women, who I had decided, were witches. I ducked behind the nearest headstone. The kids, and an old guy who looked like a zombie, started trying to get the witches angry. That upset me. What did the witches ever do to them? I sat, letting the feeling of injustice seep into my pores, until I heard a scream.
I turned to see the redheaded witch yelling something about "hallowed ground". I looked up at the pretty one, who was still flying on what I had realized, was a mop. She made eye contact with me and smiled. All of a sudden, there was a burst of light!
"Goodbye!" She said in a whispery voice, and then disappeared.
The redheaded witch turned into a statue and then exploded. The kids celebrated, and left. I sat in confusion until I felt something bump my shoulder. I looked down, and there was a floating book bound in leather. There was a creepy eye on the front, but I didn't mind. I had always had an odd fascination with the macabre. It flipped itself open to a page entitled "Creation of a Black Flame Candle". The book began to float away, and I chased it down to a grave marked William Butcherson. The first ingredient listed was the dirt of a grave from the partially dead. At that moment, I knew. The book wanted me to follow its instructions. Who was I to ignore the wishes of the strange book?
