— *Two Years After Y/n Left* —
Y/n was having the time of her life with her son, Milo. They shared a lot of happy memories together where they lived, loved, and laughed. Occasionally, in some spare moments, they had cried together.
As time ticked away, Milo was growing into a one-year-old toddler boy, which unfortunately, Y/n felt was happening too quickly. The older he got, the more he started to resemble his father, and Y/n found it difficult to get the image of Jungkook out of her head.
This is what she gets for having sex with a man who has extremely dominant genetics, she told herself once, and Milo was taking on more of Jungkook's features each day. He was the spitting image of his father. Jungkook's twin. His doppelgänger.
Sometimes she selfishly wished he had inherited her physical traits instead of his. He and Jungkook had identical smiles. But, the advantage of him resembling Jungkook was that he became her little version of the adorable baby bunny she adored.
When the guitarist Mark Knopfler said, "I don't know whether your heart ever necessarily changes, but time changes the way you perceive the world," it's true. She no longer harbored romantic feelings for Jungkook as she once had two years ago.
Time faded them into nonexistence, and she felt like a weight had lifted off her shoulders. She felt free and spent the past two years trying to get used to her new lifestyle of being a stay-at-home mom.
She enjoyed every minute of it, but sometimes there were downsides when she felt overwhelmed by the realization of being a single parent. However, she told herself that if her mom could do it, she could too.
She proved to herself that she could, with how she raised Milo to love and be open about his feelings and thoughts. Milo's development of his personality displayed to the world that he was a very loving little boy who was loved by his mother.
He grew curious about his surroundings and questioned how everything functioned. He was also very curious about his father and his absence in his life.
Y/n became scared and nervous whenever he asked her about Jungkook, but she answered his questions with the most sincere truth she could possibly tell a two-year-old without causing any implications of distress and distrust.
Of course, the first question he asked her was where his father was, and she told him the truth: that he was in his homeland of South Korea. He countered with another question, asking where South Korea is.
"Well..." she gulped, rubbing her hands together anxiously. "Uhm... it's across the ocean on the other side of the world. It takes about thirteen hours to fly over there." She said, smiling very awkwardly at him and he smiled back.
"Mama thwat's fwar," he said, pouting, and she nodded. "I know it is," she said, and he looked up at her with his big, wide doe eyes. "Can we vwisit him?" he asked, his lips jutting outward, and she glanced around before looking back at him.
"We can someday, but not right now," she said, and he nodded. "Mommy, whaz dadda's nwame?" he asked excitedly, bouncing on his toes and she chuckled.
"His name is Jeon Jungkook," she said, and he clapped happily. "Jweon Jwunggook!" he yelled excitedly as he jumped around the room, and she laughed at his pronunciation.
"Yes, baby Jeon-Jung-guk," she said, pronouncing his name for Milo, and he smiled. "Jweon Jwung-gwook," he said, giggling, trying to pronounce his name correctly.
She nodded, smiling brightly at him. "Good job, baby!" she said, and he calmed down, running into her arms. "Whub dada lwook lwike?" he said, snuggling into her arms, and she hugged him close to her chest.
