"Officer Cho, Chief, is calling for you. He mentioned it's urgent and wants to speak with you right away," an officer informed Officer Cho, who was engrossed in reviewing a file on her computer. She tore her gaze away from the screen to acknowledge the message with a nod.
Quickly closing the file, Officer Cho rose from her desk, her curiosity piqued as she made her way towards the chief's office.
With each step, she couldn't help but wonder what could be so pressing that the chief needed to speak with her immediately.
"Chief Kim," Officer Cho greeted as she entered the office, bowing respectfully.
"You requested to speak with me urgently." She inquired, her voice tinged with curiosity and a touch of concern. The chief glanced up from his desk, his expression grave.
"Please, take a seat," he instructed, gesturing towards the chair opposite his desk. Officer Cho nodded in acknowledgment and complied, settling into the chair as she awaited the chief's words.
"You may go now; please close the door behind you," Chief Kim instructed the person who had entered the office with Officer Cho. With a click, the door closed, enveloping the room in a hushed stillness.
"Ahem!" Chief Kim cleared his throat, shattering the silence. Leaning forward, his eyes locked on Officer Cho, he began to speak.
"I've called you in today because we've received some troubling information," the chief began, his voice steady and serious.
Officer Cho raised her eyebrows slightly, a flicker of concern crossing her features. Leaning in closer, she awaited the chief's words with anticipation.
"Before we delve into the matter at hand, I realised I forgot to inquire about how you've been, Taeyang," the chief said, a faint smile playing at the corners of his lips.
"Chief Officer Kim Seokjin, could you please inform me of the matter?" Officer Cho asked, her voice tinged with a hint of annoyance. The chief's smile faded as he regarded her, his expression turning serious.
"If you insist," he responded, his tone mirroring her annoyance.
"The case we have in Busan is sending shivers down our spines," Chief Seokjin began, his tone grave. Taeyang's expression shifted when she heard the mention of Busan.
"It entails a series of mysterious disappearances involving young and middle-aged women over the past year," he continued, the gravity of the situation weighing heavily on his words. As Seokjin spoke about the case, thoughts began to swirl in Taeyang's mind.
"The Busan crime branch has been exerting tireless efforts to crack the case, but unfortunately, they haven't made much headway," Chief Seokjin continued, his tone reflecting the gravity of the situation. "Consequently, they've reached out to us for assistance."
Seokjin turned his gaze towards Taeyang. "Therefore, we've decided to deploy two of our officers to aid in the investigation," he declared, his voice infused with confidence.
