Not all men are born equal, and life isn't fair. That's the sad truth of this world I learned at four years old.
Hundreds of years ago, mankind evolved to develop powers. Quirks, they were called. As Quirks became more commonplace, and more powerful, Quirk-powered criminals began to rise into prominence. It was chaos, until Heroes emerged. Governments across the world would endorse specially trained individuals to utilize their quirks to protect the civilians.
Nowadays, 90% of the world's population have quirks. But not all quirks are created the same. Scientists studied quirks, and deduced that there were four general types of quirks: Emitter Quirks, which allowed the user to produce effects outside of their body; Transformation Quirks, which allowed the user to alter their physical body; Heteromorphic or Mutant Quirks, which created permanent changes in the user's physical body; and Parasitic Quirks, which could think and act independently of the user, and even be passed on to others. Quirks were ranked on a scale of power, rated for their destructive capabilities, and assigned a letter: E for quirks that made the user weaker than the standard, D for quirks that gave no significant advantage, C for quirks that could be used to destroy large objects, such as trees or cars, B for quirks that could be used to destroy buildings, A for quirks that could be used to destroy a city-block or mountain, and S for quirks that could level a city. Anything higher was simply relegated to S, though some nations would implement a SS or SSS rank for higher-powered quirks. And yet, 10% of the world's population still have no quirk.
But that's not how I learned the truth about the world. No, I was born with a SSS rank quirk, and that was the problem. What happens when the thing that makes you special, makes you hated? What happens when the circumstances of your birth cause others to see you as a villain, for things you couldn't hope to control?
Izuku Santana sat in the living room of his family's small apartment with his father watching TV as his mother cooked dinner in the kitchen. His eyes glued to the screen as a pro hero with bulging muscles and bright blonde hair rescued civilians from a disaster on the other side of Tokyo. The hero, All Might, let out his famous catchphrase "I am here!" as he pulled civilians out of danger before rushing back in to bring even more people to safety. Izuku looked on in awe at the hero as he continued to rush in and save people, before turning to his father.
"Do you think I could be a hero like him one day?" Izuku asked his father.
Chato Santana smiled down at his son. "I'm sure you could be a great hero, mi hijo."
Izuku smiled and hugged his father as his mother, Inko, called to them. "Chato, Izuku, turn off the TV and come eat!"
Izuku bolted into the dining room as Chato smiled and turned off the TV. However, as he stood up to head to the kitchen, a man crashed through the wall from outside and landed on their floor. Inko and Izuku screamed as Chato leapt out of the way of the man before running in to check on his wife and son. Thankfully, neither of them were hurt, just startled, and Chato looked back to see the man struggling to get up. As Chato's eyes met the man's, a dark look passed over the man's face.
Instantly, Chato realized that the man was a villain. Before he could react, the villain pointed his arm at him, transforming it into a canon, and fired a blast of energy at Chato, sending him through another wall. Chato quickly recovered and rushed back in to see that the man was holding his wife and son hostage.
"Keep quiet," the villain stated to the Chato, Inko pressed into the ground by his boot and Izuku held in his arm while the canon was directed at his face. "Your family are gonna be my ticket out of here. Behave, and I'll try not to hurt any of you more than necessary."
Chato growled angrily, but before he could refute, a second man crashed through the walls of their home. The smoke cleared to reveal a pro hero glaring at the villain. "You won't escape me, Villain!"

FanfictionOkay, this is the THIRD TIME I've tried to come up with a story idea for a flame-quirk deku story, but I think I've finally got a good spin on it. And it only took me rewatching the suicide squad movie to come up with it.
