Andrew immediately started to get worked up because of the amount of bruises on my body. He hugged me so tight that it kind of hurt, but I wouldn't tell him that. I was so confused as to why he was being so nice and caring. The whole time we've known each other, we've hated each other immensely.

"Who did this to you?" He demanded an answer.

I replied with, "No one." I couldn't say it. There was no way I was going to be able to say that my own father had done this to me.

"Don't fuck with me Jane! I'm not messing around here. Tell me." He spoke sternly.

"I can't." I said, with tears in my eyes.

He bent down to where I was, on the edge of his bed, grabbed my face and said, "Just tell me who it was, Jane."

After a brief moment, I reluctantly told him. "It was my dad." I started tearing up even worse than I was before.

"Shit, Jane, I'm so sorry. Why the hell would he do this to you?" He asked while gently running his hands over my aching body, trying to make me feel better.

"I told him I didn't want to work in the family business and that I've wanted to be a pediatrician my whole life. He got super angry that I even mentioned it. Then he started wearing me out until I could barely move. He brought me upstairs and threw me in the room and locked me in there. Then I snuck out the window to come here because I didn't know who else to go and you live the closest to me than all my friends." I told him all of this while almost breaking down.

"I am so sorry. That is the stupidest reason for him to do this to you." He says angrily.

     "It's okay." I say.

"It's not. Not in the slightest."

"I know." I say while tearing up.

After a few minutes of us laying down on his bed, while I cry because my entire body hurts so bad and I keep thinking about having to go back home, he softly whispered, "Janey, you deserve so much better."

"Please stop calling me that." I said, trying to avoid replying to what he just said.

     "Why?" He questioned.

"Because, I just don't want you calling me that." I stated.

"Whatever, I'm just trying to lighten the mood. And I've called you that ever since we met. But, just go to sleep." He answered.

"Okay, I'll try." I said. He's right, he has called me that since we've known each other, but I still don't like it. It makes me feel weird.

"Your bruises will most likely heal in a few days."  He mentioned.

"Okay, thank you for this." I replied.

      "For what?" He asks.

"For letting me stay here for the night." I reply.

      "Oh, of course."

When I was on my phone for a few minutes, I wondering whether or not his parents or sister, Amelia, was home. So I asked him "Are you sure your parents are okay with this?"

"Don't worry about them, they're out of town for the next week." He says. That's a relief.

"What about Amelia?" Amelia is his sister.

"At her friends house and after that she's going to her boyfriends house. And even if they were here, they wouldn't care. But if they did, I'd tell them to suck it up because you need a place to stay. "

     "Okay. Goodnight, Andrew." I say.

     "Goodnight."
