The room was dim. Offroad directly went to the bed, not sparing any glance at Daou.

He just wanted to get some sleep and be freed from his exhaustion.

Offroad was lying on his side of the bed, turning his back on Daou. Daou tried to scoop him into a cuddle like he always did, but Offroad was not having it tonight.

He shook off Daou's hand on his shoulder.

Daou was in a slump. He did not know what to do. The only thing he knew was that if he let Offroad walk away tonight, this might be the end of their relationship.

And he never wanted to lose Offroad.

He laid on his back after he was rejected by Offroad. He knew that boy needed some space from him. From his antics.

Daou was lost in his thoughts until he heard sniffles come from his left.

"Offroad..." Daou tried to comfort him with a soft voice that he used only on Offroad.

'Offroad, are you finally tired of me? Do you want to leave me?' was on the tip of Daou's tongue, but he could never voice it out. He did not want to hear if Offroad really wanted to leave him and finally had enough of him.

"Offroad, are you tired? I'm sorry, please don't leave me..." He was holding back his tears, and his voice gave him away.

"With you, I feel everything even more. You're the most important person in my life, Offroad. If you don't want to talk, it's okay. Let me hold you to sleep, is that okay?" Daou's voice broke through the night.

All Daou could hear was silence.

And when he thought Offroad had already slept, Offroad turned his back towards him.

Daou took that as a silent agreement and finally scooped him into a cuddle. He welcomed Offroad into his embrace, putting one hand on Offroad's waist.

Offroad crumbled to Daou's touch.

"P'Ou, am I not good enough for you?" One tear escaped, and sobs finally broke through Offroad.

Daou was dumbfounded to hear it. He used his free hand to cup Offroad's face so that they could see eye-to-eye. He wiped Offroad's tears away.

Offroad tried to hide from Daou's eyes. As he felt the hand over his waist tighten, he finally looked up at Daou.

"Why are you thinking that way?"

"Everything I did seemed wrong in your eyes. We argued almost every day. Don't you feel tired, P'Ou?"

"Do you need a space from me, Offroad?"

"Maybe I do. I can't stand being with you if I have to keep reconciling with you. I'm tired, P'Ou."

There it was. Daou would be lying if he said that that very sentence did not feel less like a thousand cuts pierced through his heart.

The most important person in his life had become weary of him.

"Can't we just stay like this, Offroad? Please don't leave me."

"I need some time off from you, P'Ou. I hope you understand." Offroad was resolute in his decision.

"For tonight, let's stay like this," Offroad concluded.

That night, Daou had trouble sleeping. He just stared at Offroad silently while that boy dozed into the dreamland. He tried to get some shut-eye, but he did not want to wake up to an empty bed. It just hurts.

It hurts so much.

But he knew he could get too much at times.

Maybe some time off was good for both of them.

-----------------------------

That was what Daou thought.

But he never thought it was this hard.

The next morning, Offroad returned to his own apartment. Daou could still feel the heat radiating from Offroad in his bed.

He already missed that boy. That bright smile he used to receive in the early morning.

But that morning, all he received was a sad look as Offroad said his goodbye and thanked Daou for accompanying him for the night.

Daou decided to send a text.

"Text me when you get home safely."

Offroad replied.

"Krub."

He waited, but nothing came afterward.

For the next few days, he respected Offroad's request and did not send him any texts or calls like he used to.

He also did not try to come to Offroad's apartment, afraid of breaching Offroad's comfort.

He thought it was what Offroad wanted.

"Maybe it is for the best. He must really be tired of me."

Daou let a silent tear roll down his cheeks.

It was hard when you were together for most of the time, and suddenly that very person became tired of you and decided to leave.

Daou curled in a fetal position in his bed, where Offroad used to lay.

"P'Ou! I want to lay on this side!"

"No, this is my favourite side; there's a view here."

"I don't have this kind of view in my room. Please P'Ou....... Only when I stay for the night. Na~ P'Ou Naa~"

Another tear escaped his eye.

He wondered if Offroad was also thinking of him.
