When Champ and Liam went to the yard the following morning the guys were all over him pulling his chain and generally being assholes about his appearance on tv but deep down they were proud of him.
Frank came in with a newspaper he'd purchased the night before and the whole of the front page displayed a public apology, It seemed that newspapers across the UK had all decided to follow suit, they were probably hoping that the courts would go easy on them if they showed remorse.
Champ made sure that Liam was comfortable in the office and told him he didn't really need to do much other than answer the phone and take the odd message but Liam had a few ideas of things he could do to pass the time while he was sitting around.
He was used to kicking his heels on sets etc so it was no problem helping Champ out while Becky was taking some time. Liam used the computer to order a chromebook online with same day delivery and got the address of the yard from office stationary.
While he waited for the chromebook to be delivered he made the guys a cup of tea. Champ had decided not to do any driving while Becky was off, he didn't want to leave Liam alone in the office in case there were any repercussions from the recent media circus.
Instead he helped Danny and Jonno load the rigs up for Frank and Dave and when the prefab company arrived to install the new units he helped them with the construction and Liam sat outside the office within earshot of the phone while watching his hunky guy flex his considerable muscles.
Champ had gone all out on the new units and had chosen a design with decking at the front so Becks could sit outside during the summer months and maybe place a few planters or hanging baskets to make the place look less cold.
It was about time he upgraded them anyway, he didn't like spending money unnecessarily because everything that he had, he'd built up was from his own hard work.
Even though he had inherited Sheila's fortune he didn't feel comfortable dipping into it, he'd never really felt that he deserved it even though Mr Ashton-Miles had assured him that it was what Iris had wanted and after the funeral he had given Champ a letter that she had written to him years before and left in his care.
In the letter Iris had written that she had loved Champ as if he was her own son and was more than happy to leave everything in his care and at his disposal but year after year the inheritance had sat untouched and growing with the interest.
At the very least he could use some of it to protect those who were dear to him but he didn't think it would come to that, the media seemed to be bending over backwards to settle.
Liam's parcel was delivered just before lunch and while he was unpacking it and setting it up Champ drove to a nearby sandwich shop and bought lunch for everyone then Becky telephoned at about 2pm and Lee called Champ to the office to take her call which he put on speaker.
