💿 Softcore - The Neighbourhood
———
As Isla watched the concert from backstage, her eyes were set on the blue eyed boy. He played bass, shuffling around the stage in a red cowboy hat from one of the fans. Occasionally, he'd glance over at her, trying to hide a smile whenever he caught her looking.
In middle school, Rob would join Elijah and Isla on some of their karaoke nights. Since the boys were older than her, they didn't have any classes together, but would meet almost every break. Their top hangout spot were the two swings that were always empty, due to the scary dark forest next to it. Elijah would always take the left one, while Rob would give up the right one to push Isla on it.
Its been year since then, after Isla moved to England they never hung out or talked again.
Now she watched the boy that taught her how to properly tie her shoelaces, perform for thousands of people, hoping he haven't changed.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the 4 boys running off the stage, leaving the fans screaming for more.
A red cowboy hat appeared on her head, covering her eyes.
"Hey Isa" Rob spoke out as she fixed it on her head.
"Hi bobby" Her eyes met his, she haven't called him that since they were 12, it felt good to finally say it again.
"You were amazing... like wow.. i kept thinking back to you always talking about wanting to play bass and look at you now!"
The smile on his face grew into a grin as she kept talking, something about her complimenting him made his chest feel warm. Sure he liked all compliments yet it felt different coming from Isla, and it confused him hell a lot.
"I told you so" He laughed, his whole face lighting up. "Remember when you were 12, i was 13... after each of those karaoke nights i told you we'd be big one day" His head tilted slightly as he peered at her face, she had a couple new freckles.
"Of course i remember! ...i just... i regret losing you for so long" She was still smiling with the smallest hint of sadness behind it, he didn't fail to notice it. He went quiet for a second as numerous old memories flooded his mind, me too he thought.
"Heyyy lads up for a pint to celebrate?" Elijah appeared from behind them, putting an arm around both of their shoulders.
"From what i remember, you're the only one old enough to do so out of us three, Eli" Isla cackled, putting an arm around him.
"Ya, that's why we're going to my place, come on"
Elijah laughed and made his way towards the car, tugging both of them along.
