"Do you promise to not ever leave me?" The young boy asks, a soft yet saddened and desperate tone to his voice; a miserable expression on his face to express the sadness he's currently feeling. "It's just... You're really special to me, and I don't- I don't ever want to be apart from you." He's visibly shaking as his voice breaks a little when talking, forcing himself to look at his friend whilst tightly gripping the hem of his shirt in a mix of embarrassment and sadness.
His friend sighs and shakes his head, accommodating his locs as he stares from the corner of his eyes. "Cassie, why would I ever leave you? You're my best friend, I'd never abandon you." His voice is barely above a whisper, edged with a tired, albeit still honest tone to it; as if this was a frequent situation he'd have to deal with. He sighs with almost unnoticeable annoyance and gives Cassidy's shoulder a little pat in an attempt to soothe him, before flopping on the bed and laying on his back with his arms extended, and a bored expression on his eyes as he stares up at the old ceiling.
The decrepit bed creaks as Cassidy's friend shifts position to lay on his back instead, the light of the dusking sun shining through the cracked glass of the window and illuminating their faces. "Sammy, why won't you just say it? Please, please just promise me that you won't abandon me." Cassidy's eyes are glossy with tears as he pleads his friend to assure that he won't leave, the expression on his face becoming increasingly miserable as he huffs and looks away, to the floor. "I need you to swear you won't abandon me... I need to hear it!" He speaks through a soft and saddened voice, his trembling growing stronger.
Sam doesn't do more than stare up at Cassidy from his peripheral gaze, rolling his eyes before turning his head to face Cass. "Cassidy. I'm not gonna abandon you." He repeats himself, a faint frown on his face as he hisses this out. "For about the tenth time, I won't leave. I swear on my life that I'll stay by your side."
Cassidy then looks aside, a faint blush growing on his cheeks as he hears those words. He clears his throat and shakes his head, feeling both flustered and relieved. "I... Thank you. I really needed to hear that." He utters out with an almost timid tone to his voice, his lips curling up into a small smile. "I swear on my life I won't leave you either, you're the best thing that has ever happened to me." He then adds, smiffling a little and rubbing his face with the back of his rught hand to get rid of any possible tears before opening his arms qnd wrapping Sam in a tight, comforting hug.
"I love you, Sam." He whispers.
