Marinette

Right in front of me was a red little creature with an antenna and a spot black spot on its head.

Okay, I'm dreaming, that's the only logical explanation for this.

"Hello, Marinette"

Oh my god it knows my name. I stood there in silence, absolute silence, as this floating... thing... tried to speak to me. I pinched myself. Not a dream.

"What... what are you?" I said, trying to collect myself. Maybe there's a logical explanation?

"I'm Tikki! I am a kwami." It said in a high pitched voice.

"A kwami?" I furrowed my brows, what in the world was a kwami?

"I'm similar to what humans call a spirit, one that's bound to those earrings of yours over there." Tikki pointed to the bag.

I tried to calm myself down. I may not know what is happening but I do have enough common sense to not anger the mystical spirit floating in the middle of my room.

"Listen Marinette I know you may be confused, take a deep breath and let me explain"

I obliged and took a deep breath, again, I didn't want to anger whatever the hell a kwami was.

"Kwami's have always existed, even before the big bang. Back then there was only Null, the kwami of nothingness. Then the big bang happened, the creation of me and my friend Plagg. He's the kwami of destruction, I'm the kwami of creation. Afterwards many more Kwami's started emerging, for instance the kwami of time, or the kwami of sound. Null was outraged, and for many years tried to find ways to destroy reality and return to the state of nothing. Look, I know you're scared. But Marinette, I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to ask for your help."
In the time that it took for Tikki to explain this to me, I managed to calm myself down. Still, it was impossible to wrap my head around what was going on, I could barely even register that Tikki was real.

"My help? Why would you need my help? Aren't you like all powerful and stuff?"

Tikki smiled slightly "Not all powerful, though I used to have some power. Around fifty years ago, Null figured out that the way to destroy the universe was through destroying Plagg and I. Though since I am a spirit, it is almost impossible to destroy me. But by binding me to a tangible object, such as your earrings, all he needed to do was destroy those earrings and I would disappear as well. So he bound me to your earrings and Plagg to a ring."

I looked at her in shock.

"That's sad and all, but I don't understand how I can help you." Is all I managed to get out.

"Well not only can I now be destroyed, but my power is no longer mine, it now belongs to whoever wears the earrings. Null is also bound to a piece of jewelry, but just a few weeks ago, I sensed him. I believe that Null has managed to corrupt a human into helping him, and now the whole universe is in jeopardy. Marinette, kwamis have a power to sense things, and when I saw you staring at the earrings in the windowsill, I felt who you were, and now I have chosen you to help me. I need you to wear the earrings to use my power, and to stop Null from completing his mission. Please, Marinette."

Okay; so I know with a new school comes change, but this is a lot. For starters I don't even know how to talk to the boy I like, let alone how to be a superhero. But, I suppose, if this spirit who is older than earth says it has to be me, then it has to be me. At this point it would be morally wrong to not help her when I know I'd be saving literally everyone.

I sighed, I'm going to regret this. "Okay... I'll help you."

Tikki twirled with joy, "Thank you Marinette!"
